Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Greens are in terrible shape and the driving range is closed.

It is too wet for the course to address

For the most part the course was in good shape , but some of the greens are in serious need of repair and improvements !!
The rough was in need of mowing !! At least a foot tall in most areas . I understand there has been a huge amount of rain this season but that excuse is long over . The roughs were more than dry enough to run a mower on .
I started playing this course 15 years ago , it’s where I learned the game , and I’ve seen it at its best and worst and right now it’s just about as unkempt as I have ever seen it !! But I still love this course !!
great layout
I think i’ll make a trip here again in hopes of catching the course where the greens are in better conditions. course is great otherwise!
Fun day
Had a fun day. Pace of play was great with football playoffs going on. It was a bit muddy out there but it’s been raining a lot so it was expected. I will come back during the summer and check it out again for a change of course
Good day slightly muddy
Played a foursome, a beautiful day. The only issue were some muddy conditions that required cart path only on sloped fairways. Considering recent rains course was very playable, had a great time.
La Contente
I have been playing this course for years and it has a unique layout and is challenging but the greens are in really sad shape. Scars mostly. Not sure if this is weather related or not but I hope it is better by spring.

Greens were terrible. Can charge 62$ for those greens
Has seen better days
I write this giving full consideration there was 2" of rain 4to6 days ago. I have enjoyed this course in the past. It has been about a year since my last round. The staff is great. The layout is great. Good charge on the cart batteries. The tee boxes aren't bad. The fairways are hearty for mid December. The sand traps were mostly dirt/sand mix. The greens were diseased and a big distraction. They look like Dry Creek Ranch greens. 5 hours is way too much time to play 18. It's a 50 mile hike for me. I won't be back. Unless improvements are made.
Greens
I played this course several times many years ago, but I've never seen the greens in such bad shape! The majority of them were horrible ... And I traveled 2 hrs (88 miles) to play there ...
First rain of the year.
Only finished 9 holes. They gave us a 9 hole rain check. Just a few bare spots on the greens, they are working on them and should be good in the spring.
