La Contenta Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Challenging course
Fun to course to play. Really makes you think about your shots. On most holes you can "grip it and rip it. "
Fun course to play
Course was in good shape. Green were fast and had brakes that made you look from both side. Edges of the greens had some rough spots, but very playable. Everyone was friendly and all 4 of us said this was one of the better courses we have played lately.
1st time not last
Although many of the holes are uphill and hard to reach in regulation, the course is fun to play even for us high handicap players.
It might have been fun on another day.
The course itself is an interesting layout with a good variety of holes, Some are long and difficult and others are short and strategic. There are a number of blind shots which could present difficulties for first time players. The greens were extremely difficult. It wasn't the contours that did it but the firmness made it almost impossible in many cases to hold the green unless a perfect shot was hit. The slope of the greens was also a factor. The day was ruined by the slow pace, over 5 hours, and some less than polite people behind us who hit into us several times. The entire course was backed up and they should have been more patient. On a faster day it could have been much more fun.
VERY DISSAPOINTED
MY WIFE HAD BOUGHT A VOUCHER FOR HERE AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT... BECAUSE WE BOOKED ON GOLF NOW THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE 49$ VOUCHER.WILL NOT BE PLAYING HERE AGAIN. MY SON AND I PLAY HERE USUALY ONCE A MONTH. WE WILL BE TAKING OUR BUSSINESS ELSE WHERE A LONG WITH OUR FRIENDS..... VERY DISSAPPOINTING
very poor customer service
Because I had a voucher worth$49 and booked on golf now la contenta would not honor the voucher so we did not play. We play here quit often it is my sons favorite course so we come up about once a month and usually have more than 4 of us play. This would have been my wifes first time playing here unfortunately after yesterdays experience we will no longer be playing this course. Apparently they make enough money that they do not need mine or the people who travel with us to play there. So I would not recommend this as a course to visit
Worthy of your time
first time we played, traveling over 50 miles. greens were very fast, and some were simply unfair, falling off sharply and no real spot to land and stay. cart paths need work. fairways were fine. course challenge was very good, and surprised us. it was a busy sunday, but play moved well. we will return.
Had a great time
Had a tee time of 12:20, had a foursome of ladies. three of us had played the course before. The starter was very friendly and courteous. The course was probably fully booked but didn't appear to be overbooked but we got started right on time. Play was a tad slow, but was since we lost a few balls here and there it worked out. We caught up to to the group in front of us, a few times but just on the par 3's. A couple of the holes cart path only and uphill are a little challenging if you don't stay in the fairway....Food from the restaurant which we took to go was ok but a little pricey for a sandwich and fries. The marshal came by a few times to see how it was going. Overall a great day and the weather was perfert....
Fun Course
La Contenta is a fun course with a good layout. It requires you to hit a variety of shots and use many of the clubs in your bag. There is a lot of elevation changes, and because of that, it does have a few blind shots.
Condition of the course was very good considering it is mid-February. Greens were very fast.
Price with a cart was excellent for the quality of this course.
Down-side - very few ball washers. Most holes did not have any and considering it is winter and damp in some spots, there should be a ball washer at each hole.
one of the best
love this course. payed 14$ on a monday at noon. go there and the guy at the pro shop was nice and friendly. the people we paired up with were friendly. the course was in pretty great condition specially for not having much rain. greens are fast but still holding shots. i drive over an hour and a half to play here and i think its worth it every time. just a fun lay out. no hole is boring to me here and its a tough course too. but bring it up to the white tees and its getable.
wish they had a range. when you drive a long way hitting into those nets doesn't give you much of an idea on how your feeling. there is a separate range across the street but its off matts. i hate matts
Fun and fast
Pace of play was great even at 10:30. Friendliness of staff is important. The course has great hole for target golf and wide fairways to let it rip.
Great Venue
For late December the course was in great condition. The greens rolled well but where very firm. Delightful course with plenty of challenge. Friendly staff and an unbeatable price $30 for two with a cart!
Poor Greens
The course is in good shape but the greens really need a lot of help, from lazy golfers with divets to a funges growing on the greens
Great course, and staff
We had a great time, the course was wide open and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely play here again.
Great layout but be ready for position golf
We got a "Hot Deal" and arrived 1/2 hr. early @ 11:50. The guys in the pro shop put us at ease as it was our first time here. I think the course was well designed with ample traps and some potentially treterous T shots. After the front 9 I learned to play within my limitations and played position golf giving up the big drive for a better approach. You'll find a few wide open T shots but a lot of plateaus and valleys that make it fun and challenging. The folks at the watering hole were also friendly and the drinks didn't break us. All in all a beautiful course that was a little rough around the edges but worth it for the golf infrastructure. Despite the 50 minute drive from S. Sac I'll be back for a $20 day of golf.
cool layout
Fast greens short par fives but have to be accurate not alot of flat lies but alot of fun
playable, but challenging
This is a beautiful course, with a great layout. Alot of hills, so don't walk. This course requires your attention at each hole. It will bite hard , if you're not careful.
Really fun coarse
Staff was great in the pro shop and the bar area.
Course was in great shape and had some challenging holes and some easier ones.
Great place to play. Will be back soon even if I have to pay full price.
Nice Track - Looking forward to playing again
Nice course!!! The course was in pretty good condition considering its early fall. The greens were fast and somewhat inconsistent green to green. This course is pretty fair to the average golfer, the above average golfer should score well with good shot placement. For this round the course seemed very wet with standing water in many places. This could have been caused by a recent rain storm rather than over watering. I rarely take much of a divot but on this round I took a pretty substantial divot on most iron shots which was probably due the overall dampness of the course. We enjoyed our round and look forward to my next round at La Contenta.
Course in great shape...
Had a great day,.. was pressed for time and played quickly,.. never held up
