La Contenta Golf Club

Nice variety of holes. Staff and golfers were very friendly. Cart paths could use some attention; lots of potholes. Could use a few extra signs to give unfamiliar golfers with better idea of next tee location.

If you like to play a fun course and not think about scores then this the course.

La Contenta is a great facility. Staff are extremeley friendly and the course is in great shape. Only downside is there is no driving range. There is one across the street so next time I would go over there first to warm up. Overall a terrific way to start the year!

I didn't answer quaestions 1 and 2 because our foursome consisted of 100 +/- players. We were never pushed and the course marshall was extremely courteous. None of us has played there in at least 20 years and were very impressed as to its condition, layout easy to follow from hole to hole.

We played on Saturday 12/29/2012 the course was still saturated from all of the rain we have received in the area as of late, so it was cart path only,makes the course a lot longer that way it seemed. Greens were in great shape and speed was still fast if you was above the hole.As always one of the better courses around to play!!!

Favorite course, love the layout and challenge. Some wet spots but course is well maintained, manicured and playing true. Greens are fast and nice. Could use a few more spike cleaners!

Enjoyed the round. Course was in good shape and the weather was awesome in the foothills. Pace of play on the front nine was a little slow but picked up on the back.

This course is worth the drive with great holes and good elevation changes.

Had a great time playing the course for the first time. Quite challenging for a weekend hacker. Hilly on some holes with narrow fairways, deep sand bunkers and strategically placed cups. The day we played the morning dew meant greens were running very fast. Staff was very friendly. Lunch afterward in the clubhouse was really quite good. Play and food prices were very reasonable. Look forward to playing it again real soon.

We knew that trying to get a round of 18 in on black friday was going to be tough. We knew a 1 pm or so tee time was going to be tough. We did not expect to be told there were no carts for us until 10 minutes before tee time, to find a traffic jam going 4 holes long in front of the first tee, and to then find locals cutting in front of us at the second hole once out of sight of the starter.

Bottom line- we paid for 18, but really only got 9. We RAN through 10-12 to see if we could play that many holes, but it was only to make ourselves feel like we did not get ripped off.

I learned. Next time, not gonna do it.

Course was in decent shape considering the amount of rain it got, but so many people? killed the day... If we had been told just how packed it was going to be, and that there was no real shot of finishing up front,.... welll.....

Try your skills on a target style course. Risk will reward or destroy your score.

This course offers tremendous elevation change of which comes a great challenge. I say in you can play here you can play just about anywhere. Thanks for the experience.

I really enjoyed the course. play was a little slow because of crowds on this particular day which made for a long day.

Over all really good course with a more than affordable rate (golfnow). Well worth driving from the Valley

course is in decent shape, speed of play was awful with no effort in speeding it up.

There are more than a few holes on this course, especially on the back nine, that prove the adage that sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.

Lots of up and down, and lots of o/b, but generally, the greens are in great shape and there's not a lot of pressure to hurry, especially in the afternoons.

For the price this course is hard to beat. This was my fourth time playing here and the staff and marshalls are always friendly. They are helpful and easy going. The course is well maintained and presents a variety of challenges. The only minor negative thing is too many cart path only holes, that make for some long walks. It is definitely worth the drive and time to play. I can drive 20 minutes to Modesto City Courses or 45 minutes to Valley Springs. I will take La Contenta everytime.

This is a fun course to play. Most holes give you an out, but others require your A game. Staff is very good and the Marshall's helpful

This course has always been a favorite. Staff very friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape yet the greens were a bit slower than usual. Enjoy the various challenges provided by the different holes. Will continue to make the hour drive to play this course. Looking forward to my next opportunity to play here.
