Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Beautiful day but some wet and unrepaired spots.
A perfect day for a round of golf with a 15mph breeze. Some greens need to be cared more and there are some wet spots in the fairways. Yard markers are needed and some bunkers are at least half-filled with water. Need to clean and sanitize the carts more. Under the circumstances, the staff are efficient and professional. Still offers decent tee time deals thanks to the GolfNow.
Great Course
Love this golf course! Right now it is a little messy due to the rain. Very muddy in a bunch of places. Otherwise great course.
Cold and Wet
Unfortunately, it rained heavy the day before so we had to keep carts on path only though it seemed as though several holes were sufficiently dried out to take carts on to fairways/rough. This made for slow play and exhausting round due to amount of hills, some with high degree of slope to have to carry several clubs to each shot and what is normally a very enjoyable course to play, very difficult. Will not play again there after rains if that is going to be their policy in future.
To Slow
The staff is great really friendly since COVID-19 the pace of play is horrible the past few times you get there an no carts you are waiting at every hole a four hour round more like 5 1/2
Overbooked and slow pace.
Chilly weather at the start but warmed up later. Since it’s a holiday week, the course was overbooked and consequently very slow pace of the play but still manageable. Some unruly players (from ou of town?) disturbing with loud talking and cigar buts thrown on the greens and fairways. There were some water in sand bunkers.
As always, the course was in great shape, the weather was fantastic, the greens were not too fast but true. All in all very happy I came. I love you place, in fact have enjoyed your venue for about 20 years. Just took a few years off. Thanks for a fun day and great outing.
SLOOOOOWWWW
Had to play the front 9 twice due to the first 9 holes taking 3 hours. Second go around was much faster but the course was packed and they had 5-somes on the course. Weather was incredible so it brought the golfers out but will not be playing the course again. Fairways were pretty good, greens were very bumpy.
La Contenta
3 of us took a ride into the foothills and had a good time. Course was in decent shape a few areas were over watered and ankle deep soggy after discovering the first one if you payed attention you could avoid them. Greens were pretty good overall with consistent speed. There are a couple of holes with blind shots to the green, not a huge fan of this on any course.
I give it a 4 out of 5 worth a trip

It’s a great course to play. I feel that the greens were tore up and over watered, the layout is great

Weather was great and even though it was busy pace was fairly even except for some turds who always are in a hurry. There are several holes with extensive slope that they could reduce the amount of watering and not make them so muddy.
