Westridge Golf Club
About
Westridge Golf Club is a challenging layout designed by Robert Muir Graves, a familiar name in California golf. Graves has designed many of the state's most popular courses including Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek and Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel. At just under 6,600 yards, Westridge G.C. is seemingly short but what it lacks in length it makes up for with more than 60 sand bunkers strategically placed alongside the narrow fairways and sloping greens. There are also some holes that offer interesting risk-reward opportunities for adventurous big hitters. The elevation changes throughout provide difficult uphill and downhill shots that will depend almost entirely on proper club selection. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course finishes with a dramatic par 5 that plays downhill against the winds to a rolling fairway and then into a fiercely protected green.

WESTRIDGE Photo submitted by dmzssibal on 04/29/2014
Looks nicer on the outside
It started off with pretty bad conditions of fairways. Lost a couple of balls because grass was pretty tall. Once I found them they were hard to hit because of tall grass. The back 9 is a lot more well maintained. Also, pace of play here was terrible. Don’t know if to blame the golfers or the staff. Tee time was at 2:56 PM and started playing around 3:15. Was always closely behind the group in front while also being trailed closely by group behind us. Other than that, there are some great views.
40 minutes from tee time to finish 1st hole.
Like the title said. Our tee time was at 8:36, finished the first hole at 9:15. Yes, the FIRST hole only. Ended up being a 5 hour round. Apparently, this is normal for this course. So no, I do not recommend this spot unless you have time and are really desperate for 18 holes. The course layout is nice and I wish I could get some revenge. But it’s just too slow.
Terrible Greens and off fairways
Not worth $75 for a weekend play. The greens are TERRIBLE. You go off the fairway, your ball is hard to find with all that turf.
Westridge Golf Course
It’s been raining for a couple weeks so in fairness the course was wet, rough was overgrown and thick and sand traps were unplayable. Some dirt patches and uneven/lopsided tee boxes.
The course needs some TLC but could be a nice track if they improved playing conditions.
Not great
Staff was great. They were on top of everything. The course was in bad shape. Its been years since i played there last. I remember it being a much nicer course. For the price I would not recommend.
Really nice layout for what they have but they should have at least flatten some of the fairways. Everything is a side angle into the green. But that's not really my issue with the place is that none of the greens are flattened either. They just need to make two tiered greens but instead it's mega slopes they are nearly impossible which is a shame because the course layout is pretty nice for what they have and you can tell a lot of effort was put into it
Great value, friendly staff, excellent course
Course is in good condition. Greens were slow because of heavy rain the day before, normally they are quick and tough to read which I enjoy. Have to keep in mind that you are playing on a hillside which influences the break. Front 9 is very tough, you have to play smart golf on the front, don’t always pull driver like I did, lol. Shot 46 on the front with some lost balls on tough tee shots. Love the back 9 layout, plenty of birdie opportunities with good tee shots. Got my tee shots under control on the back nine and shot 36 with an eagle on 14! Survive the front and you can post a great score. Fun round, fun course. Food is also very good in the clubhouse. Pace of play was excellent despite it being a cart path only day, 4hr round! Definitely recommend to play if you’re in the area.
Good value
The course is reasonally priced..
They are working on the fairways to improve them. The layout is interesting.. A good value for your money.
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
This is the first time I've been back to Westridge in several years. As many others have said, the course has declined a little since the new ownership happened. The tee boxes are in rough shape. Some are completely dirt/sand. Others need to be leveled off. The greens were the highlight. They held really well and rolled really well with good speed, but the pin locations were simply impossible on some holes. The fairways are tight posing some good challenges, but they're cut at a length where it really doesn't matter if you hit them or not. The same for the traps. Some have some plush sand to work with while others are total hardpan or filled with rocks and pebbles. With some investment, this course could be incredible with its unique elevation changes and beautiful scenery, clubhouse, and other amenities. One last thing...hire a ranger to keep the pace and a few more greenskeepers to keep the course from getting too shaggy. I enjoyed myself. My son and I will be back in the future. I just hope to see improvement instead of decline.
Horrible rate of play
They really need to space out their Tee times better. From the first hole on we were force to endure long waits. For much of the day there was a back log of 2 to 3 groups at each Tee box. We ended up leaving by the 14th hole because of how long it took and we weren’t the only ones. A group behind and in front of us left early as well. Not worth it to pay full price then not finishing because of bad rate of play.
