Course has gone downhill
This used to be such a nice place to play. there are unique holes that make it challenging and fun but it has gone downhill terribly.
There were mud hens everywhere and greens so full of duck droppings that you couldn't lay a club down or put through the land mines.
I left with it on my shoes , pants, clubs and towel. the course is all torn up and not kept up well since , I guess it is being sold for development
Sorry to see this course closing
Beautiful day on a very good course. I've always really liked this course. Very challenging, but fair. Other than a few greens covered in bird droppings, the course is still in very good shape. Highly recommend you play this course before it closes... seems like it's been closing forever... signs are up, but it's still open. Trust me, you will enjoy the layout.
Empire
The greens we're bad, never seen them this bad. We won't play her again. Sorry
Absolute joke horrible horrible condition
I ha e played this course many times over the past 5 years and I was disgusted yesterday! I'm shocked how terrible the fairways are and the greens are like putting on a a beach. I can't understand how they can charge anyone to play on this course at this time it's an embarrassment. I'm very disappointed id rather play cresta verde and no I hate cresta verde but I'm sure it's in better shape. Complete joke I would not go if I were you!!!
Great course rough comditions
Great layout and fun course but the course is a little rough right now. Sand divit repairs on a lot of greens and fairways are half dead/dormant.
Not maintained...too expensive
This course, for the price, is not a value. The fairways are in disrepair, although the greens are decent. The marshals were evident once or twice a nine, but nothing was done to speed up play. We literally spent five minutes on each tee box waiting to hit. We paid $50 on Golfnow, a significant savings, and even at that rate, we didn't get our money's worth.
Bird mess
the bird problem on a bunch of holes is terrible and the course seems dead and dried out
Course in bad condition
I played this course before and it's usually in good condition, played it Friday the 18th and payed 42 per player which I thought was a great deal until we arrived at the course and saw what condition it was in. Would likely not comeback to play this course again
BSC Palm Desert
The greens were mostly covered with duck do do, due to large number of ducks on the courses property. The fairways and tee boxes were...ok. Several of the bunkers had standing water and the others were muddy. I would not pay more than $20.00 under the current conditions. The course has good potential.
Mud Hen issues on the course
I like the layout and challenge of this course but there is a serious mud hen problem there. Those annoying little black birds have infested numerous greens leaving their droppings all over about 5-6 greens. The bunkers are all dirt with no sand.
Great test
This course is always a great test. It's must to stay focused for all 18 holes. This course is always recommended.
dont believe all the negative stuff
read some reviews before we played and they werent that good, was surprised to find the course in very good condition the greens were solid, rolled true and a little fast, the fairways were in good shape you had to really look for any bad spots, the rough is very thick if you are not in the fairway good luck finding your ball. the course layout is very challenging and you must keep your ball in the fairway. there are very few yardage markers and the carts are old are about the only negatives i have but the golf was great, bring extra balls though
Great course
One of the best courses I've ever played . Played through golf now for a very cheap rate. I hope to play it again. If you love a challenge and a great view play it
Failure to maintain course
Just no TLC anymore since there are no more pro tournaments held here. .....................................................................
Nice course on decline
Have played here before. Fairways a little haggered and tee boxes not like they used to be. Too bad. Used to be a very beautiful course. Heard course has been slated for condos. Guess new buyers saving money on up keep. Makes Good business sense. Sad for golf though. Good challenging course. Still fun to play and will play again before it closes. Staff is excellent and very friendly. Recommend to play before it's gone.
Slowwwww Play & Bad Fairways
The course has regressed over the past several years. Fairways are in poor condition and the pace of play is some of the slowest I have encountered in the Inland Empire. Ducks have taken over some greens and fairways, and their droppings are everywhere. Either have low expectations or play elsewhere.
Empire Lakes Review
This course use to be in excellent condition., It was in terrible shape but it seems like they are trying to improve the condition. Unfortunately the property will be sold and homes or condo will be built on the property.,
Awesome Track, Great Online Price!
If you can nab a good online deal or hot deal through golfnow for this place do it! Fun and challenging track, great course conditions, good pace of play, a friendly staff, and they even had a marshall on the course during the afternoon on a weekday (something all courses should have but don't) to maintain a nice steady pace of play. My only gripe is that there was no beverage cart girl and they got us off the first tee box about 20-25 minutes late. Other than those two things we had a great time and will definitely return sooner than later; I heard this place has been sold to developers and will soon be shut down and bulldozed to accomodate the building of more low end condo apartments---a complete shame as this is a fine course/Arnold Palmer design on a pretty piece of property.
Perfect playing conditions, perfectly SLOW
I found the course to be in very playable condition. The fairways played as expected of a well maintained course with only a few spots of overly wet areas or an occasional bare spot near the edge of a fairway. I had to look to find the above mentioned areas. The rough could be a problem for finding an errant ball as it tended to be filled with lush grasses and bushes. My advice is to play within yourself and stay out of the areas where you really should not be playing. The course is challenging enough with elevation changes and well protected greens. Expect to play over water or grab another club or two for one of those uphill approach shots.
I found the greens to be relatively equal in speed and condition with little variance throughout the course. Chipping to the greens proved to be doable if the shot was played with some touch. Those shots that were chipped to downhill areas rolled out to predicted lengths and no real surprises of unpredictable lengths that ran unfairly off the green. High approach shots held the greens and reacted well. I enjoyed these greens very much.
Overall I would give a big thumbs up to the course and the quality of play. My biggest rub would be the slow play. Five and half hours is just too long of a round and there is absolutely no excuse for any group to take that long. I played on a Sunday and began around 10:30. The first hole took 20 minutes and the pace didn't get much better the rest of the round. I WON'T BE BACK ON A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY ANYTIME SOON. That being said, I love the course and it is on my top five list for courses in the I.E.
