great day for golf
we played late (1:30 - cheap), and followed a 3-some all day, but no prob.
Good condition pace of play was pretty bad groups of 4 in front wouldnt let me play threw as a solo. Also course markings for distance were none existent almost never know how far you are.
Course with a nice layout.
The course could use a marshall. Even with 15 minute tee times, the pace of play was slow because people hitting 2 tee shots and thinking they can hit farther than they can. Saw people driving on the par 3 fairways and right next to the greens. Appears to be no golf etiquette on the course. On the back nine you have to deal with people on the walking paths and then walking across the fairways. Cart girl was just driving around without paying attention to golfers, almost hit her when she drove across path directly in front of us.
New Year’s Eve
Great course. Beautiful views. The Resort course is in great shape. Unfortunately, there were way too many people playing. Three groups stacked up at each hole, so after #10 we jumped ahead (with 2 holes between us and the crowd behind) and played 16, 17 and 18 with clear sailing.
Poor Customer Service
I had a problem when I was playing this course. Someone named Jack from the starter was incredibly rude to me.
He was rude to me in many ways. He told me the group ahead had a 1:15 pm tee time. I went up to the first hole and asked the group ahead of me what their tee time was. They said 1:45 pm. I was a 1:30 pm tee time.
Jack also told me he was doing us a favor by letting us out ten minutes early. He insisted boldly that he was doing us a favor on a few more occasions.
Due to COVID-19, I chose not to play with strangers. It is best to keep things inside the family.
Anywho, the group ahead of us let us pass.
We were playing golf, but around the 12th hole, we received a visit from Jack.
He said that we weren't supposed to go ahead. He yelled at us and did not believe our legitimate explanations.
He proceeded to say that we did the same thing last week. We never played Taqhuitz in a good while.
Jack then said, "Well, you're brother was here."
What kind of racist remark is that? A really bad one.
I will never play here again.
Go for the cheap food
The course is pretty monotonous most of th roar 4s feel the same with little variation. The course photos are amazing but nothing like the reality. It’s a $50 course at best.
Worth playing
Wife and I were staying in the area and was planning to play Tahquitz, but was told it wasn't too nice, then also read some of the reviews that weren't great. However, we decided Thursday night to just go for it. There were a lot of tee times available (hoping for a quicker round), and the price wasn't too bad.
A lot of reviewers want to slight their experience due to the workers. This isn't some high end resort, so set expectations there. It works, they get you checked in and you get to the first tee. Let your experience on the course do. the talking.
Overall, I felt like the course was in very good shape, greens were rolling pretty nicely as well. The wind was up early, so club selection was definitely a challenge. I didn't really see any bad areas on any greens, they were quick if you put yourself on the wrong side of the hole...but still fair. Except 17 pin... wow... whoever cut that hole was an unhappy camper. Impossible location to get near.
Wife felt some holes were a little tricky on the layout but she liked the course a lot.
We play in the desert a couple of times a year and we try to play new courses each time, so happy that we went ahead and took a chance here. We had a good time and played in about 3.5hrs
very interesting course
perfect weather, lovely course. several holes quite difficult, requiring precisely placed tee shots.
Played the Resort course and I would recommend everyone to give it a try at all levels. It has some interesting holes, dogleg left and right and water holes on the Par threes. Played in under 4 hours on a Saturday.
Women be ware! Misogynist course!
I was extremely excited to go play a round of golf with my friend (we are female). Unfortunately 8 minutes before my tee off time the gentleman who was arranging the carts begins yelling my name. I go over and the 2 men that were scheduled to play with us became extremely annoyed when they saw it would be women they would have to play with. One gentlemen was extremely rude in mocking my friend and I. The man who works at Tahquitz was not only allowing this but joining in on the rude remarks in front of my face! I have never felt so typecast in my life. Extremely unfriendly worker that does not support or help women! If anyone is wondering we were not late but the men had already judged us based on our appearance.
Outstanding Course
Even a frost delay, course Shotgun start tee times to get everyone on the course that was delayed starting. Great staff, friendly. Resteraunrint open w/ outside sitting. No waiting on any tee box. Greens rolling smooth and true. Course in excellent condition. I will definitely play again.
