Poor experience
Disappointed with overall experience. I asked the employee in pro shop how the course was and he said tv condition. Not the case at all. Greens covered in debris. Debris all over. Debris all over the fairways. Homeless people walking in rough. Police officers monitoring encampments along edge of course. Traps not raked. No halfway house at 10. No yardage markers anywhere except 150s. Practice range trashed. Hitting off dirt. Bikers and walkers walking along fairway paths. Air traffic very noisy. This course was 170 cdn. Way over priced. This is not a 170 cdn course. Not even close. $75 course. Don’t bother not worth it.
Homeless camp
Was fun course and layout, really enjoyed it. But along hole 2 and 3 of the resort course, to the left of the fairway in the desert area was a bunch of tents and cardboard houses and had to avoid two bicycles driving down the cart path and another person teetering along the cart path. Not what u want to see. Guess course doesn’t own the property and city won’t do anything. It’s a safety hazard at the very least.
Excellent Golf Course
The fairways and greens are in very good condition. Fun course to play. One of the best values in the valley. I recommend it.
Be wary
First time playing here. The course was in great shape and the staff were friendly. My problem was the homeless camp on the course. We were warned of the camp only as the starter was sending us to the first tee. He said to watch out for the camp near the green of the third hole. Told us we could park our carts in the grass by the green so we could keep an eye on them while we finished playing the hole. The camp stretched beyond the third hole. Tents and makeshift cardboard houses filled the area between the third and fourth holes. Several homeless men were seen walking or biking the course/cart paths. It was quite disconcerting. As a woman, I’m glad I was playing with two men, but it would certainly be a safety concern if a group of only women were playing and these homeless guys are wandering around their carts and their belongings. I’m not sure if the problem is that the course won’t do anything about it, or if the problem is that the course has been told by the city or someone else not to do nothing about it. Either way, it is an injustice for paying customers to have to deal with such a situation. I would definitely not play there again without someone I felt safe with playing with me. Having to worry about a strange man (I saw no women at all in the camp) messing with your stuff or possibly taking your things during a round of golf is unacceptable. This is a resort course and I just can’t believe what they are allowing to take place there. Sending players/customers off with a warning to watch their things, rather than taking action to rid the course of this problem is just mind boggling to me.
As mentioned to a later comment this is now in process and by the time you read this will have been worked out by the city and by PSPD- it has been a long and difficult time for the communities involved and the golf course - first to treat these people with dignity but also do it within the legal system- they can now be dealt with through legal means since there’s housing available and this has been happening and should no longer be an issue within a week or so of mid March.
A small bucket list course
There are courses you want to play and last time I was here I booked the Legend course, it’s nice and all but for sheer beauty, play Resort. The fairways are in great condition, the greens were consistent and the bunkers had cleaner sand than some other courses around. Nice dog legs, long par three’s and green grass everywhere. Playing here is a must.
slow play 5 hours and no help from rangers.
The course itself is ok, too many coots and coot poop but otherwise ok conditions. Nearly every green is elevated making approach shots tough for oldsters.
Big complaint us the slow play. We began at 8:30 and finally pulled in to the cart return at 1:20. We saw two rangers talking about slow play but did nothing about it.
Great Course … Excellent Value
We got a great Hot Deal from GolfNow for our booking, so the value was excellent. Even the regular rate would have put this course high on my list of good value golf courses in the area. The greens were firm and fast, but well maintained and playable. The fairways were in good shape and wide enough to manage most off-centre drives. And, the layout was excellent … with a good mixture of hole lengths and features. A few of the holes had excellent views … and overall a very pleasant experience!
On the negative side: there was a homeless camp adjacent to the course, with a few extra people walking or biking along the course. Also, in general, the rough got real rough real quick … sometimes not playable. And, the 9th hole does not return to the clubhouse … so make sure you pack ample food and drink for the entire 18 holes.
Overall, a great course with enough challenge, features, and different layouts to satisfy most golfers. Be prepared for the full 18 holes, and you will enjoy your day golfing at Tahquitz Creek - Resort Course!
Good course
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were fairly quick, and rolling true. Fairways were in good shape and wide enough for you to miss a little, but still recover from errant shots. Starts out easy, with a few easier holes, but there were plenty of challenging holes to keep you focused. Pace of play was excellent, until the 13th hole, when things got backed up for no apparent reason. It did finish decently,at just over 4 hours. Can’t complain compared to some other courses in the area. Overall, great round of golf, with plenty of challenging, and some easier holes. Would recommend the resort course to anyone.Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Nice course - good value for money
This course was a pleasant surprise. All was good (except for a hitch at the start, where someone tried to take my 1pm cart and the starter tried to tell me I did not have a 1pm time). I had the time, the people in the cart getting ready were the ones in the wrong. Their name did not match, but they were all set to go.
The course itself was fun and in fine shape. A bit slow - there were 3 groups in front of us that were playing a tournament amongst themselves - and were very slow. No marshall on the course to tell them to be considerate of others. We got all 18 in, but the last hole was getting quite dark and we started at 1 - should of had plenty of time.
Sling time in the desert
What a gorgeous golf course! Long par fives, water on the par threes and tremendous vistas all over. Fairways are in great condition and so were the greens. Definitely worth the time and money to play this gem!
Stupid slow
Greens need some work. People need to repair ball marks. Otherwise a nice course. Finished in the dark because they squeezed a group in that was late. Really slowed things down. 3 groups on par 3s. Stupid.
This course has unique features
For being in the prime season for the desert courses the greens are 80%
little disappointed. The fairway and course condition are extremely manicured.
The south end of PS doesn’t get the windy conditions that the north end does so to be fair, when it does it means it’s been a storm- that week had particularly windy conditions that continued for several days and many of the golf courses struggled to keep up. The course is back to normal as far as wind clearing. But this happens. The Resort course is gorgeous and was plagued with homeless for several months- as of this week (March 10) there was a cleanup effort that was longtime in the making and what you saw was the last of them being offered services before being removed from the location. The cleanup is underway and no one has worked harder in this effort than our local PSPD and the surrounding communities which have worked tirelessly to do it in the most humane way possible. By the time people visit they will have been moved to the newly opened shelter. We respect the groundskeepers and I am a local who likes to hit balls and I agree that the range could use some upgrades to the turf. However it’s meant to be a 5 minute warmup and many courses don’t even have them anymore- you have to hit into a net. I’ve also spoken to them about the holes in the grass from the golfers who haven’t used the grass seed in their carts after their shots- they wil be making rounds to fill in with seed in the rough.
