Tahquitz Creek - Resort Course
Excellent course. Greens, fairways, tee boxes in great shape. They had a 1 hour frost delay but was only delayed 30 minutes for our 1:30 pm T time. And we finished 18 holes at 5:50 pm just as it was getting dark (3 hours 50 minutes for 18).
Tahquitz golf is a must!
Played the Resort course. Loved the wide fairways. The course was in excellent condition. It was challenging and the sand traps weren’t too difficult to get out of. If I ever return to Palm Springs I’ll play more than once at Tahquitz!
One of the better desert values
The Resort course is a newer TRobinson Jr design with beautiful landscaping and mountain backdrops. The fairways are generous but grass is not lush in many places. Greens roll great! The less interesting Largends course has thicker grass on the mostly flat and also generous fairways. The practice range is large, all grass (if you are lucky enough to find some patches). 36 holes and packed tee times explains the poor range grass. Carts could benefit from windshields in cool morning and evening temps.
Be aware that it is called Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, but only one of the courses is the “Resort” course.
quality course.
This is a nice course. Certainly improved since the last time i played it. Course was in great shape. It is a long course, but challenging and fun. Greens were fast. Some of them had brutal pin placements.
Staff was friendly. I woud centainly include this course whenever I come to the area.
Overpriced for course conditions, and lack of amenities.
Challenging course.
Glad we paired up with twosome who knew the course. We would have got plenty extra strokes without them.
Cool day in PS
My wife and I are both 65 plus and being from Canada, first golf game in 4 months. The course was in good shape. They lack carts so we had to wait until 10 minutes before tee time to get one. Range was closed due to picking it. Pace of play was fine. The rough isn't heavy and the fairways are tight. Course is fair, the wind made it tricky at times along with the cool weather. The fairways are generous, greens rolled true and were a decent pace. Having played the two courses at this site, I would say this one is more fun to play. The one thing about the resort course is that you do not return to the clubhouse until the end of 18 holes. They do have a beverage cart but it covers both courses so load up with supplies before heading out. We teed off at 1 PM and finished in 4 hours in the dark, so beware that once the sun gets behind the mountains it gets cold and dark fast.
Not in best of shape, Resort course
Layout is wonderful but apparently needs couple more months for grass to fill in. Have played last few years in March and has been very nice. This year not so much., maybe always like this in January?
Nice Shape
This course is a nice value compared to many in area. Course is in good shape and pace of play was OK. I will play many times again.
The Bermuda Grass goes dormant in the winter and and comes back to lfe early to mid-Feb as the temps being to warm up.
