Good value

For a resort course it was in great shape and the staff were extremely helpful. Very nice layout and was fun to play especially the 18th hole which is an island green. Cart have GPS

Well groomed, but need more tee options

Hawk's Landing is in very nice condition. They had punched the fairways/tees about a week or so ago (there is an aerification alert on GolfNow), but it was completely healed, and everything was lush and green. Greens are beautiful but slower than many courses of the same caliber in this area. Bunkers are all well maintained (and plentiful). The snack bar closed well before I made the turn at 5pm, so don't expect to get any food/drink in the afternoon, although they give you two small bottles of water on ice per cart - nice touch. My biggest complaint about HL is that they don't have enough tee options. There's a nearly 500 yard difference between the back tees and the next ones up and almost 400 yards between the next two. With the proliferation of combo tees, this course definitely could use them, especially given that there are several short holes, which means there are a few that are incredibly long from the back tees.

Nice layout.

I like this course but I think turning the 18th into an island green was a mistake.

I like island greens but I don’t think it should be the last hole of the day.

Great course

Played Hawkes Landing on June 30 and enjoyed it so much. We came back on July 1. The course was an excellent condition. The greens were very good. I would highly recommend this course if you’re in the Orlando area. You will not be disappointed.

What happened to this place in one year?

Played last year, same week, for a birthday event for a golf buddy, always eight of us and we play fast and play all day, even cocktail golf in the evening, so sometimes get 54 in. Last year, had to hit irons only on practice range (why????) but course was immaculate. Greens were fast, fairways plush, lots of water, fun holes and there were amenities - water on holes, trash cans on holes, drinks available from cart girl, window service for bfast and all day - and we had a blast. What a difference a year makes. This year, still had to hit only irons on practice range??, but greens are at least 2 stump meters slower, fairways still plush, t-boxes in bad shape on many holes and the course is still fun but seems to be struggling. BUT, course manager politely told us no water, no trashcans, no ball washers, no cart girl - instead he pointed to the window walkup for anything we wanted before, during, and after our 36 holes in 92 degree Florida sun! What type of Marriott resort can't get a cart girl on a course? What type of resort can't put a water cooler on a hole, or 10 of them during the summer??? We left completely dissatisfied and shocked honestly, and the poor window girl was struggling all day, not to mention they closed the window at 4 pm!!! Won't be going back because you pale in comparison to your competition and we can't take a chance on having to play another full day with the option of passing out by three or four with no supplies in sight. This place needs some management upgrades asap.

Bad tee boxes

The greens were hard as concrete, wouldn’t hold a high shot and left no ball mark. They also were very slow which you wouldn’t think because of how hard they were.

Every tee box needed repair. Hardy any grass on either par 3 or par 5’s

The carts were annoying as well slowing you down because you were going over the astronomical speed of 8 mph. Got a warning it would shut down to not being on the cart path as we were driving on the cart path

Probably would not play again unless major upgrades were made

Conditions declining

Thankfully the greens were in great shape.

Tee boxes were rough on a few holes.

Many areas around greens have died.

Driving range very rough looking.

Not an $80 course .

Pace of Play

The course was in good shape, but the pace was horrible. I played as a solo and Tee’d off without a group insight. Caught up to the first group on the 4th hole and they let me play through. Caught up to the second group on the 6th hole and joined them for the rest of the front 9. Then on the back 9… I’m not sure if this group spent a lot of time on the turn but I caught them on the 11th at the tee box as a solo. They didn’t let me play through and just ruined the round with how slow they were playing. The biggest problem with a lot of the courses around orlando is pace, often a lack of rangers to speed them up.

Good course could be in better shape

The course was fun overall however a lot of the holes could have used some work done to them. Greens were very fast and for the most part in good shape. Some approach areas/fairways clearly needed a lot of work. Overall, fun course to play, and I would go back again.

Enjoyable early morning weekend round. Fairways and greens were in good shape. There were some noticeable areas of diseased grass that should be addressed especially when you’re charging $120 for summer rounds. Practice areas are great but the range is usually irons only.
