Mission Hills - Gary Player Course

The course shares a name with other, much nicer, courses. So, make sure you know what you’re booking. Main issue with this place was the lack of watering and upkeep. Not expensive though so there’s that.

Used to be a decent course for a decent value. Is now Cathedral Canyon-like. There is NO grass in the roughs. If you are off the fairway you are hitting off hard pan dirt. Ruins the play and totally ruins the aesthetic. Tahquitz Creek is better. I might accept these conditions for $99, but not for the $157 we were charged. Played beautiful Indian Canyons South course three days earlier for $160, a mere $3 more. Played Desert Island today for $100 and it was way better. Used to play Gary Player 2-3 times every year. Will never play it again unless conditions change. And definitely will not recommend it.

Great layout with potential, but no money is being put into this course to maintain it. The club house and services are also abysmal. Some of the lowest quality food I’ve ever eaten and a long wait because of zero staff.

Save your money. The course conditions were worst I’ve played in 20 yrs. The facilities were sad at best. Carts have not been cleaned in months. Shop staff were confused and unhelpful. Given the other options in the valley I can’t believe anyone plays here. I know I won’t do so again .

One of my favorites. If not for the snarky dreadlocked starter it was perfect.

Excellent layout. Super slow round with the foursome ahead at a turtle pace. We opted to play the front nine twice in order to finish.

Price to value not there or we got way better value on the other places we booked

Had a overall great time playing Mission Hills for the first time. Challenging holes, beautiful backdrops. Starter (originally from Iowa) super friendly and helpful! Sorry, forgot his name. Pace of play was good. Our group caught a slower 3 some and slowed it a bit, but overall good. Fairways and greens were really good shape. We will return for sure.

Very average overpriced golf course at best. Fairways were s very skimpy overseed. Rough did not exist as it was mostly dirt and sand. Pro-shop personnel were friendly, stater was very good but the snack bar was very crass as if she was doing us a favor by being there. I attempted to buy a beer at the turn, rang the little bell and she just walked out and away.

This course should not be priced above $50 in the condition it was in.

If a course is built, it should be played. If you don't like it don't go back. I nor my friends will not be back.
