#9 - avoid being long into this par5 Photo submitted by jgoodeill on 03/25/2015
It's been a few years.
The last time I played this course they had 36 holes - many years ago. Course has reconfigured a bit. Some holes that I remember as interesting are now grown over. Conditions were good. Pace of play was good even though the course was busy. Good value.
False reviews
Was looking forward to the course when I saw the comments but clearly they are fake or non golfers. EASILY the worst greens in Jacksonville and surrounding areas. I’d rather putt on their fairways. Awful course conditions.
Nice course with enough to torment the mid handicapper
Although the course was under major airation especially the fairways, this course is a very nice course for the mid handicapper. I always enjoy playing here.
Well Maintained County Course
Easy but at same time challenging course to play. Staff and starters very friendly. Drinking water on course but no restrooms. Aprons and tee boxes recently plugged. Greens slow for most part with little break. Fairways in good Cindy. Rough a little patchy and long which encourages you to stay in fairway. Some nice natural views on the course. Carts adequate but bring your distance finder that does not require crystals in pin.
Love This Course
Staff is friendly, conditions are great, and layout is fun and challenging. The only downside is sometimes the pace of play is a little slow, but overall this is one of our favorites.
Great course
Fairways were in great shape. Staff was very cordial and helpful. Greens were a little slow. Bugs were terrible.
I would definitely recommend this course to my friends
Nice course with great staff
I don't think you find too many public courses that are this nice. The staff was super awesome and I can't imagine a nicer group. The grounds were great, but there were a few swampy parts but it is Florida.
Fun Course
This was my first time playing this course and I was pleasantly surprised. The course is extremely playable! Wide open fairways, big greens, and great views. The greens were very slow, but they still rolled true. Very scorable course. Played on 4th of July and two of us played 18 in 3.5 hours. No beverage cart, though. I would definitely play here again.
Greens not great
Always an interesting course to play but the greens were really bumpy and slow with way too much grass on them. I know this is the way that this muni course chooses to do their maintenance but it makes for an unreliable playing experience once you get to the green. Otherwise, just fine.
NO amenities
Hottest day on record for 2019. No cart girl, no ice, no food. Not very friendly for a holiday golf round.
Best kept secret
I've worked in St Augustine for 8 years and had never played this course. I regret waiting that long now..
The fairways were in excellent condition, the greens were probably slow for some tastes but putted true and the layout, design and multiple tee options made it challenging and fair for all skill levels.
The staff did a good job of policing the 1st tee and getting groups off in the right order at the right time, which can be a real problem at many courses in North Florida.
Bring your bug spray, but its Florida so that should be a given.
This was a very pleasant surprise.
Fairways best shape ever..greens need their annual spot help
Fairways maybe The best shape they have ever been excepts for some crab grass and the greens are overall good but the normal annual problem areas are back...still love the course
ok course
1 hour to course from home. while a OK course, nothing special. Staff friendly and accommodating.
Rain delay. Restaurant closed. 15th hole closed, 4 par 3's on back side (as I recall).
While we enjoyed playing somewhere different, frankly, it was not worth the drive, many courses in my area of same quality.
If in the area and looking for a reasonable course to play, I would recommend. We did like the lay out.
Nice little public course.
Nice course when it’s dry. If it has been raining forget about it, the course does not drain well. Also, the greens are a bit sketchy in some spots but all in all a good value for the money. I enjoyed My round and the staff was very friendly. Both times I wad there The cafe was closed and no on course beverage cart is provided so bring your own.
Poor Greens and Temporary Holes.
Was told the greens were punched 2 weeks earlier, which wasn't a problem. However they were bare in spots and very shaggy making them extremely slow. Would recommend playing elsewhere until they get the greens in shape.
