Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Golfer Reviews
Tight fairways, good greens, confusing 'next hole' markers
Good pace of play. Short driving range - irons only. Be on your toes looking for signs to the next hole. We missed a few turnoffs as did others playing behind us.
Just keeps getting better!
The course just keeps getting better and better! Friendly staff, amazing greens!, and the fairways are fluffing up. Great course.
No notificatuon of the front nine being closed till igot to the course. With only nine holes open pace of play was very slow
Nice Round
Unique, short and narrow course that sprawls through a neighborhood—with few holes next to one another. Conditions were very good, staff friendly and price reasonable.
Much Improved
I have played this course several times in the last few years and it was one of the worst conditioned places I ever played. Much improved now actually worth the money good grass still kind of a weird layout in places, but I would recommend this course over paying hundreds of dollars at other courses.
Not worth it.
Not worth playing! Took 8 hours to play. Terrible pace of play and lots of sitting around waiting! Will not be going back.
Don’t go!
Do not book this course. Experienced 4 different groups on the same tee box waiting to play from hole 4-18.
Improved course conditions
I thought the course had improved conditions from previous time there. Had a blast.
Tight
Nice course with excellent tee boxes, fairways and greens. Staff was great. That’s the good news. Bad news? If you don’t hit it straight, don’t play here. I’m a 16 handicap so I’m normally in the 89-95 range. I probably lost 15 balls, some of which were actually good shots. Everything angles towards the OB. The jungle that’s always 10 yards off the fairway claims your ball. If it’s not the jungle, it’s the water (16 of 18 holes). I would have to play the round of my life to break 90 here. I would’ve been better off hitting a 9 iron off every tee box. If you like tight, unforgiving courses, this is your place.
Good deal for the cost
I thought the course was in great shape. For a community course, it beat our expectations. Only drawback was lunch only had hotdog available or premade sandwiches at the clubhouse. But TBH we weren’t there for the hotdogs
Location is best quality
Great location 3 miles from downtown. Much improved from when I played here last year but still a long way to go. Still a good deal for $37 for 9 holes 5 minutes from my house. I will return because of how close I am, but don’t go out of your way to play here until they do more improvements.
