About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Nice course. Look at the course map to avoid many surprises.
This course you must play very strategically.
Many holes should be played to a specific point to avoid hazards and score well.
Better:
Course is much better than it has been for the last couple of years. They have installed sod in some places that should be good when weather warms. Is all dormant at this time. Members have always been a bit rude in the [past but seems to be better now.
Coming along
As a former golf course superintendent I am usually more critical. Having said that, knowing the course prior to the latest upgrade the course conditions are better but there is plenty of improvement that is needed. While the greens were in great shape for February the bare spots outside the collars need to be addressed. Green complexes with lush grass around them really strengthen the look and playability of a hole.
There are several while tee complexes that need upgrading. Overall, it looks like the course is heading in the right direction. Keep it up!
Enjoyable Round
Played RSA a few years ago and it was not in good shape at all. Recently read positive reviews and decided to give it another shot.
It was like night and day. The course is in very good condition and well on its way to being great. They have done a fantastic job bringing it back to playable conditions. All aspects were enjoyable.
Fun beginner track
Fun beginner course. They always price it fair to value. Really trying to make some changes to help people play there more. Staff is friendly and layout is fun and challenging. I always enjoy playing here.
Did not get to play even though paid
It was chaos, no carts, tea times messed up - lack of staff to coordinate - lost money
MN to FL
Being from MN, any January golf is amazing. We had a great time at RSA. Other reviews say it is a tight course, but it was still manageable for a couple of guys that hadn't played in 3 months. Be sure to take care of Emily in the bar!!
Decent course for the price
Played 12/28/25. The course was in decent shape. Greens were fast. Grass was patchy here and there. I would play again.
A true challenge
Stay in the fairway! Big numbers follow when you leave the fairway. The course is narrow and there are many hidden obstacles which will result in unpleasant surprises for those who are unfamiliar with the course. A yardage book/program would be a big help. I enjoyed the round - it was challenging.
Avoid it rude members no starter
I had the first tee time of the day at 7:22 AM. Play nine holes pretty quick went to go off to T 10 and a member. Just decided to start a hole 10. When I asked the member if I could play through, I’m a pretty good golfer and I played a little fast. The members said no you’re not playing through. I’m a member here you can wait. No starter no ranger play elsewhere greens were muddy and dirty
Staff is terrible
We paid premium prices just to get yelled at for fast pace of play with a big group

I really enjoyed the new course improvements. The greens are much better and overall course conditions were great. Friendly staff. Thank you.
Love the improvements
We played today and other than the cold and wind I thought the course was in great shape compared to a couple of years ago. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to play it again
