Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

The course was in good shape, greens were healthy. Some area still need reseeded. Overall in good shape.. the course requires good ball flight control, you have a few holes that suggest keeping the driver innthe bag.

Quirky Course

This course was a curious mix of easy and difficult holes. Quirky, with lots of terrain and forgiving bunkers. I will return. Shot an 84! Greens were in pretty good shape. Kind fast!

Run down

This course is run down and not being kept up. The driving range is awful, the fairways have crab grass growing on them and the sand traps weren't maintained. The fairways slope towards the hazards so if when you hit a good drive it ends up in the rough or water. Don't waste your time or money here.

The course is in poor condition. Tee boxes are patchy and uneven. Fairways camber towards hazards, grass is too long, felt like I was hitting from the rough. Greens were ok, pace good. Bunkers were poor with some unmaintained.

Generally course felt claustrophobic, too tight and close to properties.

Course conditions have improved

This course has a unique holes & a challenging narrow layout that rewards good shots & punishes bad ones. The greens are now in very good condition. No complaints about the tee boxes. Fairways are decent & improving. Limited pro shop, but staff is friendly.

Pace of play.

Had a 1045 am tee time. Starter paired me with younger partner. Every hole after 2 we had a 5-10 minute wait time. First 9 holes acceptable due to beginner twosome ahead of us. Second 9 behind 2 foursomes of apparently 20-25 year olds. All 4 carts had coolers with alcohol and they congregated at each tee. Pace dramatically slowed down. A course ranger might have been able to correct the issue or removed the drunken caravan. My fault for not reporting. Will return nice course

Tight fairways, good greens, confusing 'next hole' markers

Good pace of play. Short driving range - irons only. Be on your toes looking for signs to the next hole. We missed a few turnoffs as did others playing behind us.
