Golf Club At South Hampton

Course has always been great gets a lot of rounds on it, they are about to do a huge renovation which will significantly clean up the appearance of the course but always challenging and convenient to get to

Greens were fine. Still too many bare spots. Needs fertilization and watering. Nice for the price we paid thru Golf Now but not worth $60.

I just moved to the Jacksonville area last October. I'm Always looking for new courses to play., and finally got to the G.C . Of South Hampton. After months of reading reviews and speaking with other golfers, familiar with the course, i was pleasantly pleased. The course is not without issues, but overall, very playable. The layout is terrific the back 9 much better than the front. Really good par 5's. The course has a very good bunker layout. They were large, deep & well maintained. We used a monthly credit to get a 12:33 t-time for $28. For that price, I'd play it all the time. For it's current conditions, I'd probably be willing to pay up to about $45. The only real issue with the course was the greens and turf density. The greens were ok and rolled pretty good. Patchy in spots and speeds varied. Apparently, they course will shut down in May for a few months to replace the greens. I don't know if they need the total overhaul, but they do need some work. My big issue was with the fairways/rough turf. Although there's grass. It's thin it needs to be denser. I would think this is more important than the greens. But what do I know. Overall, very happy. I hope to catch the deal a couple more times be fore the shutdown. And just a note for golfers everywhere. Whenthecartshave sand/fertilizer mix (greenmix). Please use it to replace your divots. Please help keep up the courses. .

The greens are better than I’ve seen in a long time. However, the fairways are sparse sometimes hard to find a pieces of grass.. Because, they’re closing down for several months later in April, they may not be doing as much maintenance as they would have before.

Especially the last three holes. I will be back soon. I should have played the white tees.

Course to be closed for updates so until then nothing is being kept up. Wait until then and it should be better

Had a fun afternoon playing S Hampton. Course is in good shape, it's both a challenging and forgiving course. I look forward to going back again in the near future. But only with Golf Now "hot deals".

This is one of my favorite courses in the area that I play when I’m down here for spring break

The course is a great layout and the greens are very nice

If you get a Golf new deal now in the $40 range it’s a good value

Areas that need a vast improvement are the bunkers are mostly devoid of any good sand

Some of the tee areas are chewed up pretty good

The starters do not seem as a hole that eager or glad that you’re there. The same goes for most of the people at the front counter at check-in.

I’m looking forward to what happens next year after they do the course renovations this summer

It was very spontaneous and we loved it. Nice course layout, average difficulty and an enjoyable experience.

The course has improved from the last time I played it a year ago. The greens are no longer patchy, but they are still much slower than I prefer. Probably rolling around a 9.

This course is the best to play when I come to Jacksonville. The staff are friendly, the layout is great, it makes for great golf.

Just terrible paired with absolute hackers and starter could tell. I am by no means an incredible golfer but I hit fairways and greens in regulation. I was waiting 10 minutes at a time on my group to get up to the green. It was the worst golfing experience I’ve ever had. They were nice guys they just had no business being out on the course. Starter could tell and still didn’t let me just go.

For the conditions at this time price too high. Tees not great. Fairways tight with some bare spots. Obviously with rain course will improve. Greens have some dead spots.

It is a a fun course so do not hesitate to play there.
