About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Challenging Course
Great layout and pace of play has been good both of my recent rounds. Played on a Tuesday and Wednesday mid day for both rounds, finished under 4 hours. Tee boxes and fairways are a little sparse but should improve now that it has warmed up.

Best bang for the buck

Greens and tees not in great shape
Greens were very bumpy. Looked overseeded but definitely not smooth at all. Most tee boxes were very sandy with little grass. Fairways were thin. Would have expected fairways to be much greener since other courses in Jax are already filling in nicely.

Winter conditions but course needs work
I know it's still considered winter, and no doubt the fairways and greens will be better come spring/summer, but I was disappointed in the course conditions and will not be heading back. I played the ball down and it was playable, but sketchy. Greens rolled at about an 8 and were puttable, but below what I'd hoped.

We loved the layout, and it has tremendous potential, but needs some tlc. Thin tee boxes and fairways. The greens were bumpy and slow, making them a bit unpredictable.

Tough track
Tough layout. Lots of penalty areas and out of bounds.. Must be precise . Firm greens on the slower side. Inconsistent rough with lots of bare spots. Overall good value and a good test. Conditions are good overall. Played twice in one week.

Pace of play
Absolutely need a pace of play ranger. There is no reason for a 5 hr round of golf.

Overall good, guy in clubhouse was rude as ca be, almost just left , but rest of staff was great
