An enjoyable day

The weather was good and the company was great. The course conditions were a hair suspect'; however, they had recently experienced a great deal of rain and wind from Hurricane Sally. For the most part the fairways were in excellent shape. The rough was higher than I might suspect is normal, but conditions would not allow for mowing yet. A few of the greens were disappointing with rough patches, and others had minor issues. Overall they ran pretty true, but fairly slow. I will return.

Pleasantly surprised

I was looking for a course in the Destin area that wouldn’t break the bank, and found this $22 Hot Deal. Most of the reviews weren’t good, so I called the clubhouse to ask about the current course condition. The person on the other end replied, “It’s playable.” I chuckled, and thought this doesn’t sound very promising, but was willing to give it a shot. The course was tree-lined w/ beautiful live oaks (see AU Toomer’s Corner), and required strategic club selection off the tees. You couldn’t just pull out the driver, and swing for the fences. Fairways were plush. The only negative is that the greens had been recently top dressed w/ sand, so they were extremely sloooooowww.

I realized that the staff worker said the course was “playable” because they got tons of rain 10 days earlier from a hurricane 75 miles to the west, and there was some debris scattered around the course. I would recommend this course without a doubt as long as the price is below $50, and thought it was a fun & thought-provoking course.

my first course

I played this golf course two months ago and it was the first time i ever played golf. In two months this golf course looks like they want people to stop playing it so they can sell the land and build on it.

Solid non-resort course

Booked a last minute tee time for the last morning of my stay in Destin/Miramar. Wanted to try a local non-resort course and this was one of the closest. Played early in the morning so had no issues with pace of play for my twosome. Course was good in some spots and average to below average in others. Quite a few tee boxes were under repair so had to either play up or back. Greens were average, better than putting on aerated greens like the resort courses during mid to late August. A few holes had nice views of the bay. Would I play here again? Probably for the price I paid.

Bluewater Bay/Marsh Courses

Bluewater Bay Golf Course is a combination of the old Bay and Marsh Courses. There is a 8 minute drive between Tees 9/10 which is a pain.

The greens were exceptionally slow and bobbly...

There were numerous temp Tee Box's and the in use Tee Box's were of poor quality.

The Club staff were very friendly and helpful, perhaps there are not enough Green keeping staff?

Good value

Nice golf course with a helpful staff. The course conditions are good. Rough is thick but it’s rough! The greens are a little slow but it’s understandable during these times. Great value and I will play there again!

Friendly people

The staff at this course are super nice people. The course was difficult to navigate with it being our 1st time playing but the starter easily directed us in the correct direction. The guy came around and offered us cold drinks and cold towels several times during our round and was always extremely nice. The course had a couple of greens that were under repair but we were told this at the start of our round.. For the money and kindness from the staff I would definitely recommend this course.

Greens as fast as your carpet

I have played Bluewater Bay for years while coming to Destin for vacation. It has been sad to see the decline of this course over the years. What used to be 4 nines has now been whittled down to 2. The fairways were decent. The tees ok, but the greens were so slow. It was frustrating how slow they were and I did not get used to it until well into the back nine. Also, we had a backup on the back nine and were waiting on every shot for the last 5 or 6 holes. I am not sure why that was when there was a marshall out there.. It was a great price, so I did not regret playing there, but you get what you pay for. Also the driving range was closed and apparently. has been sold and will not re-open. Not sure if I will play there again.

Rough round

Got there early was told to tee off when ready by the very nice pro shop attendant

Started on the bay course. Wow we thought we were playing in a cow field. Very poorly maintained

The back we played the marsh course. Much better condition

Fairways well maintained the greens were slow due to sanding but in decent shape

We were slowed down considerably by the 2some in front of us

Would have been nice to have been offered to play through

It was cheap but ya get what ya pay for

Lesson learned

Rough greens

Arrived 30-40 minutes before tee time and was told to hurry and get to the first tee. (Which is a 10 minute jaunt from clubhouse). Got hooked up 3 other pretty cool guys who were just as confused as me about getting tee time bumped up. Oh well after finally finding 1st tee we all 4 hit decent drives and were all around the green after approach shots. In 40 years of golfing these are probably the WORST greens I've played. The layout is cool but every green is burnt out and has what looked like rock salt grossly over used on all greens. We just took automatical 2 putts on all greens. Maybe check it out in a few weeks but for now , there's no need to even bring your putter. It'll take a little time to get your stroke back to normal after dealing with theses eyesores.

good value

For $30 bucks I don't know how you beat it. Let me know what you are paying in Destin? I laugh at people who say course in hard to navigate. The guy in the pro shop was very specific about telling me where to go. Then the starter went through the same drill. Not to mention they have nice signs that tell you where to go. Greens were recently punched so you have to expect it to take some time for sand to settle. Staff was great.
