Useless Marshal But Beautiful Course
The day we played the pro shop requested us to start on the back 9. No problem, so we head out there and finished five or so holes without any delay. Then we came up on a foursome in front of us. At first we didn’t think much of it, probably just older folks that need a little more time to move around. Oh boy were we wrong. It took us a while to realize a lady in the group would hit 2-3 balls every lie. It was like she was playing best ball by herself. The other 3 would get on the tee hit, and get in the cart, but no not this lady. Once we made the turn we got to a point where two groups behind us were waiting behind us. We spoke up to the group ahead and they obviously didn’t care as we were still watching this lady crack 2-3 balls every lie. When I say that I don’t mean just off the tee. I mean EVERY lie. At this point, we did what we’ve never done before, call the Marshall. He arrived rather quickly, and we tried to explain the situation to him, but he didn’t seem to listen either. He kept defending them even though I didn’t see him out in the course once all day. So I figured he must’ve known them. In the conversation with the Marshall he shook his head as he was leaving which sent me over the top. I didn’t say or do anything but this is the reason I will not ever return.
With that situation aside, I enjoyed the scenery. There was plenty of deer out there mid-day, and they weren’t easily startled (I. guess the residence feed them). The fairways were taken care of, and the greens were nicely mowed. Sucks that a beautiful course was ruined by sour staff.
Greens not great
I have played Lansbrook many times and play because of their quick greens. Unfortunately they seem to have aerated it in the middle of raining season. The greens are slow and bumpy. Super disappointing. Maybe try it in a month or two. Hopefully they don’t aerate again. No warnings on the golf now website about the greens. Not worth playing without extremely quick greens.
Long course
Good course for the money. It was tough with tight fairways and a lot of hidden water and very long holes. Greens weren’t great but could tell they were being worrked on and should be perfect very soon. Overall very good course with nice layout
Never again
They only had half the course open. You could only play the back 9 twice if you paid for a full 18, and didn’t tell you this till after you already paid. Which wouldn’t have been too bad if they didn’t send a everyone out at one time. Had to wait 10 minutes between shots. If you want to waste time
and money then play here.
Poor drainage
Normally great greens and still very good, however , most fairways were so wet, you were decelerating on every swing. I don’t recommend this course during rainy season.
Excessive rain
The excessive rain has taken its toll on the course. Cart pathbonly on a few holes. It doesn't help when the maintenance gets out there with their heavy equipment on sluggish ground and creates more problems. Approximately 5 holes were so bad that they had to be skipped. Sand traps are so full of water that they become another water hazard on the course. Other's need some work/ sand. Greens were fast and rolled great. They were in good shape. Tees weren't too bad either. Most fairways we're in good shape as well and had plenty of grass to get a roll out. During the week, pace of play is always pretty good on most courses in the Tampa area, so not an issue there. Overall, Tampa needs some days to dry out and this course will be right there but they have to be careful not to lose decent fairways due to activity by maintenance and golfers that don't abide by cart path only. Pretty neat to see wildlife on just about every hole.
A little wet
The course was a little wet but not bad for the amount of rain in the last few weeks.
Slow
If you like 6 hour rounds, this is the course for you . No starter on course, I honestly could have skipped check in and put my clubs on a cart and played, as there was no starter on the first tee. 3 groups on a tee box at a time, I stopped playing after 13 holes in. 4 hours
Great Course if You Have 8 Hours to Play
Let me preface by saying this course is an absolutely phenomenal condition. Though it’s been raining the grounds crew has done an exceptional job of making sure that the greens are cut and that the course is as dry as it can possibly be.
The reason for my rating of this course is solely due to staff friendliness and pace of play. First and foremost the staff in the clubhouse including the person at the cash register as well as the lady and cook working behind the bar we’re just absolutely exceptional when it comes to customer service.
The reason I would never play here again is because of the pace of play in the way it was handled by there” Ranger.” We teed off at 9:30 and we were running behind a little bit so I called the clubhouse like I’ve done with any golf course in the past and their response was just come whenever you want it doesn’t matter. I didn’t think too much into it until I arrived and saw that the first hole was backed up by over four carts.I don’t know if it’s because the course overbooked or in general because there was no starter to even regulate the starting but this was just the beginning of this nightmare regarding pace of play.
Where are the issue really comes in to hand was when we were on the third hole the “ranger”/cart keeper, Decided that he was going to ride past me and the three other groups that were a bunched with us waiting to tee off and interrogation style asked us if we were the “ones who called about pace of play.” No it was not us you would think that he would then intern do some thing knowing that they were people visibly upset with the pace of play. However he just shifting blame and did nothing to fix this as the pace of play did not change the entire day. It took us six hours to reach hole 15. SIX HOURS.
While I understand that Saturdays are a busy day this could very much have been solved if they broke up the group of seven people that were playing three holes ahead of us. It took us an average of 15-30 minutes a hole to complete. In my eyes if you’re going to be charging 50+ dollars a person you should have better control of pace of play. I’ve played much less expensive courses in the area with more people out and their rangers kept pace of play par. This trip was booked for my birthday and on my birthday and I had a limited time to play so I didn’t even get to finish my round. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement, but if you have time to wait all day to play on a Saturday then this is the course for you. As mentioned before the staff inside the clubhouse and the gentleman at the register were amazing, but I would not fork out that kind of money to have this experience again.
Lansbrook Golf Club
Played this course last week.so much rain in Florida, most courses are cart path only. This course was no exception. Aside for the standing water which is no ones blame the course is in great shape! Tee boxes and fairways are lush. Greens are spectacular! Fast, smooth and rolls true. Lots of water hazards but even though 16 of the 18 holes have water on them it really doesn’t come into play with exception of holes 3,7,11,17 and 18 on the left side. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to play golf on a really pretty course! A. Lanz
COURSE HAD STANDING WATER AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RATED CHEAPER FOR THE CONDITIONS . FLL PRICE TO GET MUDDY AND RUIN SHOES NOT OK. THIS IS A GREAT COURSE FOR THE MONEY MOST OF THE TIME . THIS TIME IT WAS A BAD CHOICE TO CHARGE FULL PRICE FOR THE CONDITIONS.
First time at lansbrook
Staff in the clubhouse told me to give my receipt to the starter. There was no starter. Took 5 hours to play. Many holes are very wet and players were not abiding by cart path only. Greens are in great shape. Cart paths are washing away and not usable on some holes.
