The aptly named Hidden Valley Golf Club feels secluded set between two large hillsides, amongst carefully preserved boulder outcroppings, ravines, and an abundance of native flora and fauna. The challenging layout demands accuracy and it will also test your shot-making skills. Golfers should expect to utilize every club in their bag. The golf course features tight fairways lined with mature trees, tricky doglegs, and multi-tiered greens that can be difficult to read. The rolling terrain also promises difficult uphill and downhill lies. Bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there is water on a few holes. A windy day adds yet another formidable element to the challenging design. The diverse layout has a mix of difficult par 3s, reachable par 5s, and a few birdie opportunities. Hidden Valley Golf Club will definitely test your skills, but five sets of tees make the course more approachable to a wide range of skill levels.

Incredible Course - A Must Play

I was recommended this course, and it sure did not disappoint. Fairways and tee boxes were in immaculate shape, greens were a little slow, but very green. No dead patches anywhere on this course. Bunker sand wasn't in the best shape, but I was only in one once and it was 100% playable.

The best part of the course is the layout - super fun. This is how golf is truly meant to be played. Every shot will challenge your decision making due to changes in elevation, wind, and the slope of your lie. You're truly out in nature on this course. The starter was also very friendly, I forgot his name but he gave me some tips before I went out on the course and was all smiles. Overall this course receives my highest recommendation, perhaps the best value and layout in all golf courses in Southern California.

Nice Fairways, Horrible Greens

course overall is in great shape. Fairways green and well maintained. Greens are truly horrible. They are super thick and spongey. They are the slowest greens i've ever played on. You get almost no break on putts and ball just stops. They need to maintain them.

Nice views, poor greens and bunkers

First time. Unmatched views however awful bunkers (hard pan due to very little sand) and the greens are so slow and bumpy it’s unnerving. It is beyond reason why they are not cut and rolled more and for what they charge you would think they could afford decent sand. The restaurant staff are extremely friendly.

Golf at Hidden Valley

Love the course layout. Some of the fairways had dry areas little or no grass. Didn’t understand why some of the holes were cart path only, not talking about par 3’s. Group in front of us was a threesome, but they were holding us up, we were a foursome.

Big potential course, poorly run

Driving into the course is beautiful and gives you an instant sense of excitement. Fairways look amazing and the valley is beautiful. However, that excitement got quickly dimmed by the rude old man working up front - said we cant check in and pay until 20 mins before our tee time. No explanation as to why. Anyways we decide to go eat and drink a beer before the round so we walk across the parking lot to the restaurant (horrible design btw?) where all 3 entrances have signs directing us to another entrance due to private events. Went back to the clubhouse asking how we could get food / drink and was told “its closed” by the old dude. On our way out another employee said no its not closed and showed us where to go in.

Practice range is weirdly skewed. Lines feel weird without an alignment stick. You hit into this large hill covered in rocks. Cant really get a good sense for distance or flight. Range Balls were expensive for a small amount (like $12 for 50)

Turns out we cant check in early cause they are lacking in carts. So let us check in, pay, and come back for the cart when you have it? (Someone else was there checking us in. This guy was more like your average golf course attendant. Not rude like the old man)

Course was fun, however these are the SLOWEST greens ive ever played in my life. Fuzzy, spongey, and slow. Inconsistent speeds across different holes. A lot of strokes lost to putter. Slow pace on the day overall. We finished in 5.25 hours playing right against the group in front of us.

I will not be back, primarily due to the greens and the clowns running the facility. Hope someone buys them out and fixes the course because it has huge potential

Course is in very nice shape

This is always a fun & challenging course.

However- over booking resulted in a 5.5 hour round- and that is just unacceptable for a Thursday morning round !!! We waited on every shot and many holes had 2-3 groups waiting.

I understand these courses are trying to maximize their profits- but there has to be limits to how many groups they are putting out there. This is not fair to any of us.
