Space Coast Golf Club
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Golfer Reviews
Few Rough Spots...Greens, Too
We thought that perhaps Hurricane Irma had done some water damage at this course. The fairways were rough in spots (bare dirt) and the same was true for some of the greens. A few traps seemed to be neglected as well. Overall, having played this course several times before; our round was disappointing. We moved along quite well after the first few holes and did enjoy the activity. The starter could not have been nicer, but, he was stuck in a corner by the rest rooms...where is the starter shack...crazy. Renovations were occuring inside the clubhouse where the snack bar was previously. Not sure what the plan is for the area. We will try again at this course several months from now to hopefully see it back up to scratch.
Recent Golf
This course is greatly improved since I played last (about 7 years ago). Fairways are tight, lots of water & good greens. They are re-modelling the dining area. Staff are very friendly & helpful.
Nice set up
Challenging course, lots of water and special landscape. A pleasure to play and a pleasure to see.
Great Value
This course has everything. Great course to practice target golf, and long enough to challenge your long game. Course conditions was only 4 stars because the round was played a day after rain. The off course amenities we're weak because they're remodeling the snack shop and I got hungry at the turn. I'm sure they'll have it put back together real soon. I'll play there again.
Beautiful
Pretty water holes & sights of gators & birds always make this course a gem.
Staff is so friendly & helpful
Would like to have more divot sand supplied on cart or be able to replenish after front 9.....please! ...
Savannah is improving
After losing the management company, the course is finally looking much better.
Great things are proposed for the course. A bright future is ahead for this facility.
Course has seen better days
We booked on Golfnow as a twosome and after warming up with a bucket of balls we headed to the first tee.. No one had teed off in 15 minutes.. we were told we had to wait for the other twosome that booked the same tee time.. we waited 15 minutes for them to show... Behind us they let 4 twosomes go.. needless to say we let every group go thru every couple of holes.. VERY ANNOYING!!! Greens were slow and bunkers needed more sand.. Snowbirds may think it's a good course for $25 but it has been better..
Great Course
Love this course, it's in great shape.
Lots of Florida wildlife around making it even better.
Good day to play Savanah's
The pace of play was great. My wife and I teed off about 10:50 and played in less than 3 hours. Wind was 15 mph but did not seem to affect play much. No mosquitos - perhaps due to the wind. Greens were cut a little lower but were still slightly slow.
Zero charm
This course has been around a long time is owned by Brevard County. Snack bar Is a mess and has been closed for well over a year, get it fixed. They have a standard greens fees as $50. It is nowhere near $50 golf course. It is not a country club. If you want more activity lower the rate while all of the snowbirds are here and advertise it in the newspaper, or put discounts in the local newspapers. This course needs attention and maintenance. Several of the fairways are in bad shape. Areas Need to be leveled and grass added the fairways.
Nice day on the course
Savannahs has a nice layout, but the day I played the greens were really slow. I have played here when the greens were fast. The pace of play was good, did run up behind a 2 some that were playing slow.
One problem was as we were going to the first tee a 3 some with a later tee time jumped in front of our 2 some. The starter apologize for that but didn’t do anything about it.
We are very glad you enjoyed you golf experience & round with us. Thank you for the review. Hope to see you teeing it up @ The Savannahs soon.
Savanah's a good value course
This course has lots of water on the front nine and some on the back 9. It was windy and tough to play into the wind. Fairways a little sparse in spots. Greens ok but slow.
Hot Humid day and lots of mosquitos
We played at 10:56 after dayight saving time ended so about middle part of day. Finished in 3.5 hrs.
Mosquitos were voracious - followed us in the cart, got about 5 bites even though I used spray. Very little wind and humid conditions brought them out in droves. Greens were cut quite long - may not have been cut in a while -. Tough to putt. Fairways were pretty good thanks to a lot of rain in the past week or 2.
mosquitos
It was horrible to play there with all the mosquitos on the course. We where anxious to finish the game. The course is good but it was horrible. Sorry!
Great layout shot makers coarse
Give the guys a big hand on the cleanup from the hurricane big difference in just a week that I played it. Other than a group of 5 they let play. I had a great time
Good signs pf improvement
Excellent that the 'death-traps' of weed & stones are finally receiving attention!
Why not put divot repair sand on both sides of carts to help maintenance?
Why not put 'cart- path only' signs when required, as some golfers dont receive &/or remember the warning?
Thanks for the course improvements, & thanks 'golf-now' for the booking convenience & occasional 'hot-deal'.
Never again
The course was in horrific condition. The man at the pro shop was as rude as can be. I had a golfnow tee time and I arrived early. Since there was no one waiting and no one in view on the first few holes, I asked if I could go out. This was met with a gruff "no,you are a golgnow tee time only and will have to wait" This course used to have great greens but no more. If Brevard County closes courses like they say,I predict this one being closed.
Thank you much for taking time to review the course. Maintenance continues to address areas of need & and have battled through excessive weather and rainfall this year. I agree there are fairways needing more attention, especially remaining fairways with the 15+ year marle issues. The golf course will not charge $50 a round at any point and the rates will not increase again this year . We truly do appreciate your business & look forward to seeing you tee it up soon.
