Space Coast Golf Club
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Golfer Reviews
Greens are a nice speed and roll very smooth.
This county course is an excellent value. I think it is really important to choose the proper set of tees when you play here. There is a lot of water and for anyone other than a single digit handicap player you might find it more of a challenge than you wish.
Unbelievable good deal/last minute decision
Light rain in the early AM, cancelled our plans. Dried up and consulted golfnow, got the round for slightly more than a bucket of balls. Only negative was repairs going on to 2 of the par 5 fairways (not even really a negative when they are making things better). Rest of course in good shape, drained well, and completed our round in 2:45!!!
This course has good grass.
The green are famous and the grass is impecable except two holes.
Two holes under repair
Greens were nice. Fast and smooth. Tee boxes in great shape. Fairways need some attention. Two par fives on the front the tee box was less than 100 yes from the green. Will not play it again until the entire course is playable.
Soon it will be great! Soon...
Under construction of a new sprinkler system at the present. Both par 5 were closed on the front nine and converted to par 3 of about 55-60 yards. I WOULD RECOMMEND A CALL BEFORE YOU BOOK IN!
Great value
Not for beginners, coming from Midwest, course demands straight shots, lot of water, excellent value for money, not crowded the day we played
Disappointing
Course was having irrigation work done. No warning about that in Golf Now. Plus the fee at the counter was lower than GolfNow's fee during the construction. Both par 5s on the front were reduced to less than 100 yards from temporary tees.
Course has a lot of water and some very narrow landing areas (less than 20 yards in many cases). Don't need a driver most of the time. Lots of wildlife, including the largest gator I've ever seen...on the 6th Hole.
Good course that should improve
The staff was friendly, the price was super due to the repairs being done to the course....The two par 5's on the front were getting new fairways, and were consequently under 100 yards....The greens were just ok for this area, as I played several others better during the week....It will be worth another try next year.
Under Construction
They are adding irrigation, so 2 holes were closed and 2 of the par 5 holes had forward tees so they played like par 3s. Wait a month or so and it will be a good buy.
Under repair but still great value.
major upgrades being done but thye've done a great job isolating the work and only affecting one hole at a time. chatged 1/2 because #2 was closed.
This course is under construction.
This course is very challenging especially the first nine. The greens are in good condition. However, when booking the tee time, I saw no notes warning me that the course was under construction. Two holes were closed completely, one hole had a temporary tee box about 150 yards ahead of the regular tee box for no apparent reason, and number 7 which is a par 5 had a temporary tee box about 100 yards from the green. Had I known the condition of the course before booking the tee time, I would not have booked it for any price.
Nice public course
This is a very nice course that is fun to play. I was disappointed that 3 holes were close and others impaired by
equipment and digging. I wish courses would notify before you book.
Very hot and humid day
Some fairways had serious issues, greens were decent. Some construction work was being done on the sprinkler system and caused a little bit of a problem. Overall for a county owned course, the place is still a fun and challenging place to play. More distance markers on the course would be nice, especially on 4 and 5.
Course under irrigation rennovation
Course is undergoing major irrigation rennovation causing many of the fairways to contain a lot of bare spots. One hole is completely closed down thereby a player will only play 17 different holes but can simulate 18 holes by playing one with two balls. At this time the course would be better off shutting down (at least 9 holes at a time) to complete the rennovations required. I do not recommend playing this course at this time.
Course can be very wet so avoid playing it when it has rained alot.
This is an interesting course. However it is suffering due to the excessive amount of rain we have had. Also the staff does not communicate very well. Don't try to play late in the day, They close early. Called an made a 5:30 tee time (gets dark around 8:45), went in to pay, then proceeded to the starter. The starter informs me I can only play 9 holes because it was too late in the day. I said what if I play really fast, he got pretty heated and said 9 HOLES ONLY. I finished the 9 holes just past 6:30. Probably wont go back to this course just because of the way they treated me. Sure would have been nice if the pro shop would have told me it was a 9 hole tee time.
lots of water
nice course, lots of water. a shot makers course for sure
MANY DISTRACTIONS BUT FAIR
NICE DAY OUT RIDEING A GOLF CART WITH A GREAT VIEW OF LOVELY HOMES AND WATER FOWLS AND BIRDS AND TURTLES AND OTHER ANIMALS IN A GREAT NATURAL ENVIOREMENT. AND BYE THE WAY PLAYING GOLF ON A CHALLENGING WELL MAINTAINED COURSE MADE FOR A GREAT DAY FOR AN OLD DUFFER.MANY DISTRACTIONS
Walkers should be restricted
The course was in great shape.
Walkers should be restricted to playing Monday through Friday because they really slow down the pace of play. If they are allowed to play then the starter should control the pace of play and alternate starting the groups following between the front nine and the back nine.
Great day of golf
There are two holes that are "under maintainance" and are cart path only. Looks like the course was flooded and there are a lot of mud spots. Overall, it was a great day for golf. We got a hot deal for $12 per person which was a great deal for the course. We are looking forward to playing there again.
