Space Coast Golf Club
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Golfer Reviews
Play Smart
This course was a nice surprise. The overall condition was good. One fairway was a little rough but all the greens were great. The ball rolled well with many challenging breaks. Be careful pulling out the driver on some holes. Water hazards command a lay up fairway wood or long iron. If you play early am bring some bug spray the gnats and skeeters are bad on the driving range. Fun course though would play again for sure.
Water, water everywhere!
Played this course with my wife while on vacation. Between the two of us we couldn't carry enough balls for our skill level. Between the lakes, canals, ditches, and scrub we needed to play with nothing longer than a 5 iron!
We started a 7 in hopes o beating the heat. Well, no breeze until about 9;30, It was like playing in a sauna.
Fairways and greens, I wish I was that good....
Excellent Condition considering all of the rain!
With all of the rain, we expected wet conditions, but were pleasantly surprised. The greens were firm, though a bit slow, as the mowing operations were late due to the rain the night before. Pin placements were in challenging positions on some hole, which added to the enjoyment. Some fairways had a few bare spots, again, likely due to excessive rain. The biggest, and very pleasant, surprise was that we encountered no mosquitos, and we started at 8:30 AM!! The clubhouse facilities appears to need updating and outside "brightening". This would add "curb appeal" to an already very nice course.
Could be tightened up.
Some things can be corrected. Appr. 9am start time. Behind 4some(walking, which I don't recommend.), 1single female hitting from whites and not a long hitter, father daughter duo hitting from whites this female also not a long hitter. Starter should have made that a threesome.
Course plays longer due to long grass in fairways, no roll. Pin placement erratic, up, back, middle, all over course.
Greens very slow and a little bumpy
Not a horrible course just needs tightened up some
Sand traps bad, needs groomed a little deeper for proper sand play..
Fun
Besides losing a few balls. I had fun. When checking in at the club house, I did over hear the lady saying that wasn't the correct rate. But before I said anything she went ahead an gave it to us for the golf now rate. Our cart almost died on us. But we made it through. Overall being th first time there. It was a good time!
New resident
I have played the course a few times every year for the past 10 years. Now that I am a resident of Florida I will be playing it more. It is one of the best courses in the area. Right now it is a little rough because of the weather but I know it will come back in the fall.
Greens are not bad, but...
Course is getting better with the improvements they made. I had a hole in one on 17 so that made the day pretty special for me. Still a lot of areas that need to grow in new grass. The layout of a few of the holes on the front is weird. I think they should make no. 4 into a par 3 and lengthen no. 5.
GREAT PEOPLE BETTER COURSE
First time here and the water brings many challenges, next time will loose fewer balls.Course is perfect the people friendly and courteous, the greens were excellent even though recently airated.Best value for your buck but for me a long ride-
Savanah golf course
This is an excellent course overall and the scenery and natural wildlife was just as good as the golf, highly recommend this course for the average golfer.
Course was a pleasant surprise.
Got a great price and condition of course was very good. Greens and fairways were both highly acceptable. I will definitely play the course again. Biggest problem was finding the course as there was no visible sign on Rt. 3.
Tight course fast greens
Overall very nice place to golf. Staff very accomodating, rental clubs in good shape. Gave poor rating on the food/beverage, because we finished at 530 and the bar was closed.
this course is getting better
the course has been updated, they are working on the sprinkler systems. But overall good. Cart path only. had some slower players in front for the front nine, then opened up.
This course used to be in great shape
We haven't golfed here in a few years but always loved the course. This year a lot of the fairways were not in good shape. They had seeded areas on hole numbers 2 and 7 so had areas roped off that you couldn't play on. Hole number 7 had tee blocks under repair also. Hole number 10 fairway was in very rough shape. The tee blocks and greens were good.
There is lots of water on this course, along with bush to lose balls.
The Savannah Course presents Nature at its best
The Savannah course is a challenging course presented in a very natural setting.
Alligators, a variety of birds, ground animals, and plenty of water hazards.
The Savannah is simply a very comfortable because of the natural settings and a challenging course not be taken easily.
I would recommend this course to anyone who really enjoys the challenges and the natural settings.
Beautiful course
Lots of shelter from wind. Course layout allows for use of variety of clubs. Very scenic & picturesque. Very enjoyable.
Good course to play.
I felt the course was in good shape. Two fairways were being re-seeded, so these were "lay out" areas. Got to see a few small gators in the ponds.
This is a nice public course
I played Savannahs many times while I lives on Merritt Island. It was almost always a pleasure to play. It is a real shotmakers course that squeezes you on a number of occasions. The big bombers don't like it because they are always looking for their shots. You have to back off and hit some smart shots. Check in is usually pretty good... but on a number of occasions system problems led to problems and lines. One area of improvement is they could speed of folks more often. But a nice venue, well worth the money.
