Riverwalk Golf Club
About
A collaborative effort by Ted Robinson Sr. and his son has resulted in a most scenic championship layout. The championship 18 meanders through mature eucalyptus trees, tall palms, and majestic oaks. Sparkling ponds contrast with the dozens of white sand bunkers and the emerald green, Bermuda grass fairways.

9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012
9-holes on Friars,
Well no waiting because they were punching the course!! Add rain and wind and cold ....sure there wasn't any waiting. Friars 9 was in bad condition except for the greens which were very good and surprisingly very fast. The wind must have dried them out some. It was better than going to work but not by much. Play Presidio and Mission, let Friars recuperate. Hopefully, rains this week and next will help.
GREAT COURSE
Great Course Always Enjoy Playing At River Walk one of San Diego's BEST
Review of Friars Presidio
I really enjoyed my round of golf last Friday. I played with two other young men in their 20's that very fairly good players. The course is still under repair in some areas, but improving nicely. Over allni would say it was a good experience and look forward to playing there again.

Waste of time & money
Friars 9 was horrible condition. Why use it when its under construction? Unless scraping every nickel from public. Back 9 on Presidio. 1.5 hrs to play 3 holes...REALLY? asked all groups how long they awaiting to hit. Horrible replies not fit to print. Tried calling pro shop-got put on hold!!! Never got answer. They pushing huge volumes at any cost. No marshals, but plenty of starters & cart girl. ($$$)
I was visiting, 7 hcp & playing TP on sunday. Will never rethink this horrible golf experience..the worst in my 36 yrs golfing. All about the money, not the customers satisfaction. Shame n sad
Visiting from Scotland!
Very friendly and helpful staff at all locations. Fairway's on Friars course though are rather raw and patchy, but the greens are in great condition. Do do the greenkeepers, and your fellow golfers, a big favour folks, and remember to repair those pitch marks!
nice course, hard times
the layout is fun the lack of fairway grass... not so much. Easy to walk and a 4 hour Sunday round - terific

Great course would recommend everyone visiting. Staff and all were very nice
Friars not so good
They should just close Friars 9 until they fix the fairways.
The design is good and the greens were in good shape but I would not have booked the hot deal had I know I was going to played Friars nine.
I enjoy playing Presidio and Mission.
Presidio/Mission Yes. Friars No
We Played 2 rounds first Presidio/Mission and 2nd day Mission/Friars. Would not recommend Friars
Not that challenging and poorly laid out. Doesn't help that they had flood damage to multiple holes and cart path only.
Mission #1 is not how you want to start your day.
Especially at 7am when you are looking right into the sun. Spotters needed.
But other than that Presidio/mission was challenging and fun. What more could you ask?
Starter/Marshall's did an excellent job with pace of play
It was a chilly and windy day, so lots of errant shots in the groups ahead (and our own), but there was no issue with pace. I was worried it would be a slow round, but the starters really did a good job pacing the tee-offs, and we had no issues all day.
We never saw the beverage cart, so we were delayed at the turn--but still no pace issues on the second nine.
Very enjoyable round of golf.
No Longer Maintained
This course used to be beautiful. Now it's a complete eyesore. I can't bring out of towners to Riverwalk anymore without hearing constant complaints. The fairways and surrounding roughs look cancerous. Seriously, it looks like the grounds we're poisoned. Surprisingly, the greens are well kept (immaculate really), but getting to them will leave you challenged and constantly having to re-spot your ball due to unplayable lies (no pun intended).
My last outing I purposely chose Presidio / Mission since the time before Friars was trash. Unfortunately, those were allowed to get just as bad if not worse. On top of that they are continuing to over charge.
5 1/2 hour round
Won't be back. Started at been and had to play 18 in the dark 5 1/2 hours later. Group cutting in front of us with no marshall on course.
It is what it is
I don't play RW often as it seems to be used by tourist more because of its location but always hope to surprised (in a good way) when I do play it. Just never lives up to the potential of the great layout. Always slow play and this time the fairways were in terrible shape. Greens were good. That being said the owners have planned to buid condos/apts for the last 20 years and I think plans are now starting to move through city for phase one so prob dont expect much improvement in the future..just more of the same
