This is an old course, so don't expect any modern amenities. The yardage isn't well marked. It is a very short course, but fun. The greens and areas around the greens are lush, the rest of the course is barren. 14 holes are par three so they are in good condition if you hit the ball on or near green. On the par 4 holes the fairway is very sparse, so expect a poor lie. The "sand" traps could be more accurately described as dirt traps, but they are soft enough to be playable. I have played this course many times over the last 35 years, my comment for improvement would be to trim back the trees on the 11th hole so that you have some idea about where to aim if you haven't played the course before.
Fun course to walk
Greens were great easy course to walk. Fairways and sand were hit and miss but this is a good course for the money no issues.
Rural, rustic, quiet atmosphere 3000 yard course
Easy to lose a few balls, easy to get lost first time visiting, but there is a gentle spirit on these links with a rural restful vibe.
Great Course for the Short Game!
Pace was a little slow today and greens as well since they recently punched. Gotta do it twice a year so can't have blame about greens. Great course for the short game, only hit the big dog on 2 holes.
Staff is a joke
I showed up 5 minutes late to my tee time due to a literal freeway closure. They would not let us on to play. And had the audacity to send an email that they will charge the full play fee to my card. Staff was unfriendly and didn’t care about the situation. This is the last time i use golf now or play at tecolote. I will also put a stop payment before you jerks try to charge me. How in your right mind are you going to charge for use of your facilities without us using them. Both parties are an absolute joke.
This course has unfortunately been taken out behind the tool shed. I’ve been playing here for years as it’s great practice and keeps the irons tight, but finally after today unless there are significant improvements made I won’t play there again. Every other par 3 course in the county is in better shape and possibly cheaper at this point. Save your time and go play Mission Bay, Lomas Sante Fe Exc, Emerald Isle, or St. Mark Exc. All very similar distances, prices, and other than mission bay all fairly testing par 3 courses.
Good short game course
Good course to work on your short game
Last I checked, the grounds crew usually pause doing their work while golfers are trying to play through. I understand emergencies, but that day wasn't one of them.
First time playing the course and booked on GolfNow. Didn’t know what to expect and didn’t realize it was pretty much an executive course but greens and fringe in great shape. Nice little course located in a valley. Would definitely play again.
Fun course. The holes were short by challenging. There weren't a lot of people on the course so the play was quick until about hole 13 where we caught up to some slower players, but even then we didn't have to wait that long.
