Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Pace of play is the worst in the Metroplex
The layout of the course is challenging but the pace of play is horrific and no one on the course enforcing the speed of play so I won’t be back. There was also a couple of guys behind us who felt compelled to hit in to us twice. There are plenty of better options in Dallas so I would steer clear of this course.
Pace was terrible
Had a 7:50 tee time. So you figure pace would be still fairly open. When we should have been on deck, the 1st was stacked and was told that we were 30 minutes behind and there was a twosome that is causing the bottleneck. We were informed that they had no Marshalls and that the GPS will tell groups if they are falling behind. The started then would tell each group behind the next that that group was a bunch of complainers about being bottlenecked. Our round was just over 5 hours. But I don't think it was just that twosome, as both courses seemed to have stacked up starting groups. Other than that. The course layout is great, nice to see large trees with plenty of shade to try and escape the heat.
Surprisingly good
Really good course for the price
Excellent condition
Starter extra friendly
Played with a member named John which made the experience even better
Airport course
First off let’s start with the positives, great layout and greens were quick at times but overall true. Course is well taken care of when it comes to fairways but the bunkers are straight red dirt but this is understandable with Covid conditions. Honestly this course feels like a extension of the airport, the clubhouse fees like apart of the terminal and the staff both in clubhouse and on the course have no personality or courtesy. I really doubt people that love close to bear creek call the course a regular. Pace of play is really rough and there was no marshal the entire round. The course lacks personality and when your out in the Texas heat that’s what you come for. Great for a hot deal but wouldn’t ever pay full price to play again. This seems to be a standard of Arcis courses but whatever, if you profit you win. Probably a last resort if you live in the area.
Great greens that ROLL TRUE
My first time to play this course as I live in Austin, TX and visiting a friend at the time. I will be back to play this course no doubt.
S. L. O. W.
Pace was atrocious. 18 holes in a cool 5 hours and 30 minutes due to some poor playing ahead of us plus the course sending people off every 8 minutes. Multiple times we were backed up 10-15 minutes waiting to tee off. Did I mention it was 105 degrees?
Aside from that, course is in okay shape. Definitely used a lot but greens rolled pretty good.
I did enjoy the little outside bar they’ve set up since Covid. Hope they keep that - definitely was a plus over the old bar are inside.
Hot day out there
Hot conditions out there today
pace was pretty steady
no real hold ups
greens played good and
putted true
great day for golf
Not The Best
First time playing this course. Pace of play was not good and there was never a marshal around to speed up play. Not sure I would play this again.
Needs some TLC
Good layout with some interesting holes. Bunkers are holes with dirt.
Nice but slow
5.5 hours to play. Had to wait on every tee box and almost every shot. Course is nice and in good condition but probably won’t play it again. Not worth the time and money.
Can get on easily most days
I appreciate Bear Creek because they have 2 courses and they move well so they can accommodate many golfers. The West course is IMO much better than the East and unfortunately that is the track I played. The East isn’t bad but just not as good..
