Cherry Island Golf Course

I like the course but my round was lower than normal. I enjoyed the day anyway. I don't like the soccer flags. They are a distraction.

Good weather, course condition good. A lot of hazards

The course ran out of carts and the tee times were backed up at least half an hour it was a slow and exhausting round

I like Cherry Island, but it seems the course is always overcrowded and the average golfer (who showed up the day we were there) really didn't care much for proper golf etiquette. Basic stuff like playing ready golf, raking bunkers after hitting seven or eight shots to try and get out..stuff like that. The marshalls talked to them but didn't really enforce the rule. When we finally made it to the turn, rather than keep us playing behind the slow pokes we played the front 9 a second time. Even with that, it took over 5 hours to finish 18 holes. I haven't been back since.

I like this course but today is the first time I have played when the soccer players are out there (no fooling, this is true). The first tee we waited 15 minutes for them to get out of the way. There was a group of six with a couple of kids, can you imagine hitting a stray ball and hitting one of them, what moron ever thought that this was a great idea. The county is looking at a lawsuit somewhere down the line. You can see them in front of you and you wait but what about the errant shot from another fairway and they can't see them. They didn't seem to worry about the people hitting golf balls behind them as one group ran in front of me twice on the fourth hall as I was getting ready to tee off. On the sixth hole they were changing clothes and eating and then just walked down the fairway like they were just out for a walk. I really like this course but I don't know if I will play it again as I would not want a person getting hurt on my conscious. As we were playing the seventeen here come more of them and they have golf carts. I have been hit by a golf ball twice and it doesn't feel good. If you hit someone in the face or head you could kill them, just unbelievable that they would allow this. I am just wondering who would be at fault, the county or the golfer?

Our group of golfers came from out of the area and unfortunately experienced road delays arriving only 4 minutes late. We were rudely turned away even after explaining our situation. We would never recommend this course to anyone!!!

The GolfNow receipt was not honored at the course. They claimed there was a mistake on the GolfNow website and that the cost was $48 and not $8/18 h. While this was reasonable, GolfNow or the course should honor their published rates.

the course is in great shape,putting water to everthing. could use alitttle rough,mowed sown tight everywhere.

This was my first time playing Cherry Island and it was relatively easy to follow. The little maps on the score card were good. A little more signage between holes would be helpful.

As a bogey golfer I never felt overmatched by any hole. The course is fairly wide open, though there are a few narrow fairways on the back nine. The sand traps and greens are well maintained.

There is free cold water available every few holes - really welcome when it is hot.

Fun course.

The course was in great condition. The greens were fast. The fairways were groomed. We played Bass Lake last Tuesday, It was horrible. It was like the Sahara Desert.

The most important thing I want to get across about Cherry Island is that although for some reason there are courses that seem to attract pretentious and rude jerks Cherry Island does not. I've played here a lot and almost without fail the people who play here are courteous and place having a good time without a lot of drama above playing like it's for the championship of the world. Make no mistake, there are good players at Cherry Island but they're free with a "hello" and "how's it going" instead of a scowl from Mr. Important as he plumb bobs his 3' putt. All the staff are friendly and the course is in very good shape considering the amount of play it gets

Having only three choices to rate various characteristics of the course is unfair to this course. While it may not be "Great" or "Super Friendly" or "Pristine" it is well above the middle choice for friendliness and value for the money. Many of the holes are quite scenic. It has a nice combination of trees, water, undulations and other features that make it both pretty and interesting to play. I will return.

Greens were wonderful. Right amount of challenge. I look forward to playing there again.

A course with variety, very friendly staff , good pro shop and great value

The only problem was that we were stuck behind HS girls golf team who were walking and not maintaining a very proper pace of play with the group ahead of them. It was a 3 hour front nine and we didn't get to finish our round before dark. Advise calling the shop to check on the girls if you want to play on a Thursday!

Greens were good, love to play here again soon. Staff was great and had a great time.
