Footgolf???????
Had no idea they had footgolf in the afternoons. If I had known they did this I would not of booked a tee time. I feel the both of these sports are not a good fit together. The Footgolf was loud and disruptive. We quit after playing only 6 holes. What a waste of $$. I won't ever go back or recommend this course to my friends.
Golf and foofgolf
I had fun!
The course does not lack character. The placement of the greens were intentional and provides fair challenges to golfers of intermediate to advanced categories. It is a course I will readily recommend to people looking for good golfing experience.
Not that I like dropping my golf balls in the water, but the dried up water hazards are taking away instead of giving the course added character.
Noticed the "the footgolf" interlaid with the golf course which could be confusing to someone who has no knowledge of it in the course. There was a couple of holes I mistook the footgolf flag with the golf flag. Perhaps a short and quick reminder at the check in will be very helpful.
Played on 4-24-2014
The fairways, greens and bunkers all in very good condition.
Loved the course set up.
Course was in great shape. Even though raining for most of the round, we found the course enjoyable and one we will play again when the weather is better. I would highly recommend the course to everyone.
Great shape
This course is maintained well always. The greens seem like they are rolled out every time I play here!
Very cherry course
This is the best in conditioned municipal course that I've seen in many years. The staff is friendly fairways are beautiful greens are huge very forgiving. My only complaint is it has a dual purpose with foot golf which is I guess a soccer game played and there are multiple flag sticks that are misleading and I made at least two bad shots going to the wrong flag. Other than that it's scenic beautiful with water and challenging sand traps
Surprisingly well maintained greens and fairways during drought.
A lot of long demanding holes well worth the price of admission. Got a late start so could only get through first 11 holes, but through golfnow got a great deal. I would highly recommend this course. We were able to go from hole to hole with no pressure from the front or the back. Great day!
Well kept fairways and greens
The course was well kept. It was pretty frustrating with the pace of the course though! Other than that, my overall experience with this course was good. I would recommend it to friends.
Foot Golf?! Really?
GREENS
Arrived on a Sunday at 9:30 AM and was lucky enough to find a discounted rate online. When we arrived I was then told that the reason the rates were discounted was because the greens were just air-rated and in horrible condition.
UNANNOUNCED ACTIVITIES ON THE COURSE
On the very first hole I noticed on my 2nd shot that were two random flags placed in the middle of the fairway with a large 2 foot diameter hole for each (imagine a putting green hole but 30 times larger). We all thought they were being used for chipping practice since they weren't actually on a green. Then we noticed that these holes and flags are all over the course! After we asked around, we were told that these were being used for "foot golf". This is a family-friendly game in which people kick soccer balls down fairways and try to make it into the holes... just like golf. The flags placed all over the course were extremely distracting especially when you haven't played the course before. Then we come to find out that they allow the foot golf game to be played AT THE SAME TIME AS THEY ALLOW GOLFERS ON THE COURSE! I was teeing off on the 5th hole and along comes a family of four walking in our fairway kicking a soccer ball! I really was in disbelief that a golf course would allow this to happen and was appalled that they gentlemen in the clubhouse didn't inform us of this activity when we paid our rate. Needless to say I won't be back to their facilities and I would encourage not to visit unless of course you're into foot golf.
No more "foot golf"
I played this course for maybe the 100th time in my life. I have always enjoyed it... though I do miss the original 1st hole setup. The greens had recently been plugged so putting was basically pointless. Our rates however were cheaper due to this and I know it is necessary to keep the course playing well. The biggest problem I have is the addition of the "foot golf" tees and flags.... really cherry island? Really? Get that nonsense out of there! At the very least take the stupid flags down when there isnt any foot golf going on. Cost me a stroke on the first hole as I aimed at the "foot golf" flag next to the green instead of the flag for ACTUAL golf. I mean is this necessary? It seriously made me reconsider playing one of my favorite courses again. I mean there are now tee boxes In the middle of the fairway and enormous holes in the ground to boot. Its borderline shameful. Have some respect for the real game please
Tough Sledding
Missed if that the greens had been punched a week before, big holes, lots of sand...they will be great in about 2-3 wks. There was a scramble tournament finishing up, 4 women golfers in a sandtrap (best shot) and then no one got out....4 more shots, 2-3 holes vacant in front. Marshall could not close the gap, we were 2-3 foursomes back up on the front nine, we quit and a lot of others at the turn..3.5 hr to finish nine. Do not like what use to be the 10th is now the first hole
Great course for both the novice and experiences
Only thing from receiving an excellent rating was punched greens and the pace was too slow.
good golf course
I enjoying playing this golf course. value for your money
Tricked out but fun
Interest course design. Par 5's are mostly 3-shot target golf, as are some of the Par 4's. Length is not a premium here but accuracy is. Looking forward to getting out there again now that I have course knowledge. Staff was VERY friendly and facility was old-school but nice.
WARNING - I can see the "Foot Golf" becoming a problem on busy days and adding a 1/2 hour or so to the round time. No one was really out there the day I played, but having non-golfers out on a course playing "soccer golf" just seems like a recipe for disaster.
great courst
Had a lot fun course was a bit challenging as it was my first time there
Would play again
Nice track, greens were a bit wet but tis the season. Pace of play was a bit slow.
Great Place
My biggest concern was that we were supposed to tee off at 10:36,, we ended up starting about 11:45 not giving us enough time to finish 18... They did give us all 9 holes free the next time we play... But, it was very frustrating not being able to finish! We showed up at 10:00, left at 4:00 and only finished 14 holes. The management needs to be careful about over booking tee times...
This course has a lot of challenging holes
I enjoyed playing this course. It is challenging and usually wears me down. Have not broken 100 here yet
A comment from Management::
- Footgolf is allowed only after 12 noon 7 days a week, there are no footgolfers on the course at 9:30 on Sunday morning or any other morning
- The footgolf holes are placed well into the rough areas on each hole, mostly under tree cover. The flags are short and orange so as to not be confused with the regular golf holes. Most of the tees for footgolf are also in the rough, with the exception of a few holes that they are on the forward part of the traditional tees.
