Enjoyed Mather
It rained on the front nine, but back nine was fine. Cart path only so I got my steps.
Needs Help/ No cattle
I would say, I've played Mather a dozen times over the last 5 years. I won't be going back any time soon. It was in horrible condition. The greens are barely playable. Playing on a Saturday morning you would expect the greens to be mowed and few spike marks, these greens looked like cattle had been on them all night long. Its really surprising its fell this far in just a few years.
Lots of construction
Wasn't informed of irrigation construction happening on 2 holes. Basically unplayable and converted to par 3s. Also the food & alcohol prices are ridiculous.
Fun course
Enjoyed the day but did have to wait a lot and were hit into a few times.
A good city course
I have played Mather golf course several times previously. The last three times the course has been very wet with some areas of the fairways and rough being muddy, but that is due to the recent weather we have had. The greens were hard and not super receptive, but still playable. Some of the greens could use a little TLC as you can tell they’ve had a lot of play on them recently, but not the worst greens I have seen for a city course. Some of the bunkers Was like hitting out of concrete, but you can tell they are working on fixing the bunkers and adding more sand. Overall, it is a good course for a city, but it definitely needs to dry out a little bit more.

Wide open course!
Great course for a novice golfer like me. Wide open fairways. A little dry but overall it was in good shape.
Greens look great.
Meh!
Waited for groups ahead at almost every hole. Matter is a public course that is average but oftentimes the Greens fee is the same as better courses. I couldn't tell the difference between fairway grass and which either says something about the maintenance or The design.
Golf Course was in the worst shape they should have closed for repairs.
I Golf course that should never be played in the fall, winter or spring.
Paid for 18 and only played 9 it was so bad.
Winter golf “wet and mushy”
The course condition was not a surprise, just wanted to get in a round of golf between rain storms. However the group that teed off in front of my group was playing from the blue tees and advancing the ball maybe 25 yards each strike. The starter was watching this and was unwilling to do anything. The group in front of this slow group teed off on hole #2 and half way down the front way. Finally the slow group was out of range so that we could teed off. The group realized how slow they were and allowed us to play through on hole #1. The starter continued to watching this all playing out but still not doing anything to correct the problem. The course management should never allow this level of slow play, especially on a very busy day for the golf course.
Mather golf course
Besides the wet and foggy weather, the course was in good condition. Drains very well.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Highly recommend.
