The Golf Club at Rio Vista is situated at the heart of northern California. With a scenic spot near the Sacramento River Delta, the course is even named after its scenic river view. The river delta meets rolling hills on this tough providing a unique setting equipped with distinctive water features. The skillfully crafted water holes are the trademarks of the design. The design mimics the natural lines carved by the river delta. The fairways are wide open but lengthy and generous greens can also be quite challenging as well. Rio Vista is a golf course that has appeal for players of all skill levels from novices to pros, whether it's the scenery or the diverse layout. Be careful on windy days though, the open course can be especially brutal.

Unrealized potential

As I drove up to the course I saw that the greens had been punched, I realize that I had not checked when i made my reservation. Oh well, that is a necessary evil. Little did I know that the aerated greens would be the best conditioned part of the course. The tee boxes had not been mowed in several days. The fairways were awful, either dirt or a marshy swamp. Those places with grass seemed like a mixture of dandelions, wheat and kelp. The layout was fun and the staff was friendly.,

Ground under repair

Greens are good.

Tee boxes...Tee boxes? Horrible.

Fairways. A mixture of bald or dead,

and flooded. The soggy areas were

largely unmowed. Ruts and puddles.

Hadn't played here for years, and won't

Still needs a LOT of work

I was told the course was under new ownership and attempting to revitalize the course. It has great potential and the greens were in good shape. Every other part of the course was a 1 star course. The tee boxes were terrible. The fairway was terrible. The sand traps somehow were the most watered part of the course. This course has a maintenance problem. There is plenty of water, but iit s not used properly.

Absolutely the worst course I’ve ever played

Do not waste anything to play here. You will be disappointed. The worst course conditions in all of Northern California.

Poor maintenance

The fairways are in awful condition on the majority of holes, poor drainage resulted in soggy spots and numerous puddles while other fairways are bone dry with huge, rock hard dirt areas. The tee boxes are average, some good, some bad. The greens are in great shape, that’s the only positive feature.

Rio vista

The only good thing today was that the greens were in good shape, slow but in good shape. The course itself is in terrible shape. Some flooded spots probably due to sprinkler issues the rest was bone dry, where only weeds grow. The tee boxes hadn’t been mowed in at least a week. It was like hitting out of the rough on every box. Half the bunkers were completely unplayable. Something is going on out there that needs to be fixed before I come back

Course needs some work very sloppy and wet in the fairways. I was first group out playing very quick round . They let foursomes start on 9 and 10 . We pulled up to them and they had no care in the world . .talked to pro shop ?? They did not care and said just fall in behind them . Really !!!! Not the best customer service

Average course. Very windy

Playing conditions were between a 5/6 out of 10. Fairways were pretty battered and several tee boxes were unkept. Pretty fun layout but very windy.

This course could be beautiful

My husband and I wanted to try this course. The cost to play was reasonable. Unfortunately, the course is in rough shape. Standing water and mud everywhere. Very few ball washers had water and you needed to clean up at each hole. The lawns need mowing. It could be such a beautiful course if they took care of it. We left after 9 holes and won’t go back.

This course is cool but needs work

Course needs a lot of work there was a lot of mud and water all over and bunkers need to be raked. I like the layout of the course but it needs a lot of work this was my second time playing it and it was worse this time won't be back for a while.
