I'VE BEEN PLAYING THIS COURSE FOR A WHILE. SEEN IT WHEN IT WAS FAIRLY NEW,AND IN IMMACULATE CONDITION. THEN, IT GOT PRETTY BAD IN SOME SPOTS OVER TIME. HOWEVER, IT IS STARTING TO GET BETTER. BUNKERS ARE GETTING BETTTER, STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, BUT BETTER. FAIRWAYS ARE GETTING NICE. GREENS ARE GOOD. LOOKS LIKE OTHER GOLFERS ARE CHIPPING IN AND HELPING OUT WITH BALL MARKS ON THE GREENS. (I PERSONALLY WITNESSED IT. ALWAYS NICE TO SEE THAT) OVERALL.... GREAT GOLF EXPERIENCE. SOME OF THE LOCAL RETIREES COULD BE A LITTLE MORE FRIENDLY, BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO. A GREAT DAY OF GOLF... GREAT PRICE.. GREAT DAY.

A change in ownership has done nothing to improve this course. While the greens fees are inexpensive, the course condition is poor, making this "deal" a bad value. There are no marshals, so pace of play is relegated to the group in front of you. The golf carts are the best in the Bay Area - too bad their condition has nothing to do with the overall experience!

Rio Vista has been and always will be a course
dominated by wind. It is what it is and no player should book a tee time in advance from out of area due to the unpredictability of wind on any given day there. It can be marvelously calm or downright unplayable.
Course is under new ownership and making slow improvement to the 80 or so previously unplayable
bunkers. Some of the greens are infested with a weed problem that will take a lot of time to overcome. Tees are generally ok. Fairways ok but with areas in need of seeding and more TLC.
Many courses face similar challenges. Rio Vista is not a bad place to play. Verify wind conditions before you drive out there and expect nothing spectacular for a reasonable price.

The course was in poor shape due to neglect but the design, pace of play, friendly staff, and great price made it worth it. I will go again and hope that someday they put some money back into the course

Nice time greens are in great shape people are very nice and respectful great day. Playing there again next week.

It's not to bad of a layout. A couple holes that can be quite a challenge but still a fun course. The greens aren't in the greatest conditions but not terrible. Sand needs some help too. I wouldn't pay more than 25$ to play here though. You can do better elsewhere I'm sure

The course needs lots of love. It used to be in great shape, but the condition has gone way down hill. The bunkers have little to no sand. The greens have some native weeds with some bare spots & the parts that have decent grass are spongy & bumpy. The fairways and tee boxes are also in about the same shape with bare areas & weeds. There is no longer a driving range or chipping area. The practice putting green isn't great either, but it is in about the same shape as the greens on the course. So at least you know what you are in for. It does appear that there is some reseeding & maintenance going on, so maybe the course is on its way back. The layout is fun though with a nice pro shop & restaurant. I have had some quality food & beverage at the restaurant in the past, but this time it was closed when I finished the round. Signs on the door said there had been a water pipe burst. I miss the quality course that RV used to be. I would still recommend playing the course for someone looking for a fun layout, but not for anyone looking for quality. I hope the course is on its way back!

Course itself was fine. However, there was no driving range to take practice swings. This was very disappointing and pretty much ruined my whole day. Had I known before I booked I would have chosen to drive 50 miles somewhere else.

Changes in ownership have not helped the course condition. Windy conditions cause the sprinkler system to be irratic causing burned out spots in the fairways. The greens need rolling and the ttraps are being rebuilt one at a time. Basically, you're getting what you pay for.

This course used to be in wonderful shape. Not a terribly challenging course but a very nice round of golf could be had at almost any time of the year.
The course has suffered either from neglect weather or what ever a terrible decline. There wasn't any part of the course that wasn't in some sort of dire straits. I just hope they can bring it back to the level of its former playability.

The price was great, and the layout of the course is wonderful, but it is in really rough shape, and the driving range has been eliminated.

No driving range, course layout is really cool, but it's in terrible condition - very sad! The price was good, but they need to get it in shape!

We teed of at 7am and were done by 10:15. It was extremely windy that day. The course is in bad shape. Lots of dry patches and weeds on the tee boxes. I won't go back.

Course is in horrible shape. No sand in the bunkers, but they do have big weeds in them. greens in bad shape. I won't be back, even if its free.

It's a good thing that I only paid $12 to play (including cart) otherwise I would have been very upset. The facilities were immaculate (except for not soap in the men's restroom) but the course itself is in need of a lot of work. The fairways were very unkept with weeds, dandilions, etc. everywhere. There were places were there was no grass whatsoever. The tee boxes were in terrible condition. I did not find one bunker with sand in it. They were all washed out. I understand why all the lakes had green water but I don't understand why someone could not do anything about the scum everywhere.
It look like perhaps Trilogy tried to make a Resort course setting for the home owners in the complex but somebody better start doing some serious repairs to the course or I think you're going to have a mutiny on your hands.
I was not aware that I could have added images to my review otherwise I would have because seeing would have been definitely been believing.

My backyard is better groomed than this course. It is obvious there is no leadership here as there was no beverage cart or even an open snack window. The greens were neglected with disease and not being cut. The fairways were so bad you were better off being in the rough.

Solid course I enjoyed it overall greens were in good shape. Only problem was several holes were very dry on spots on the fairway some spots grass had burned off. Staff were very friendly. I will play here again

On the positive the hamburger sliders in the grill were fantastic

First time I played the course and it was absoulutely in the worst shape of any course i have played this year. I did talk to the marshal and he said they are working on getting the course back in shape but they have a long way to go.

course conditions are very poor...my parents live out there, I've played the course for about 10 yrs...worst shape I've ever seen it in...understand the drought...but, no sand in the traps (gulley's running through the sand from watering, standing water, full of weeds)..you seem to get a choice on some holes, swampy or completely dry, earth cracking (hard clay)...hate to see it this way, loved playing it when they opened, but the latest owners seem to be more worried about selling homes than ensuring the golf course is in good shape (ripped out practice facility to build more homes....
