Rio Vista Golf Club
About
The Golf Club at Rio Vista is situated at the heart of northern California. With a scenic spot near the Sacramento River Delta, the course is even named after its scenic river view. The river delta meets rolling hills on this tough providing a unique setting equipped with distinctive water features. The skillfully crafted water holes are the trademarks of the design. The design mimics the natural lines carved by the river delta. The fairways are wide open but lengthy and generous greens can also be quite challenging as well. Rio Vista is a golf course that has appeal for players of all skill levels from novices to pros, whether it's the scenery or the diverse layout. Be careful on windy days though, the open course can be especially brutal.

Bay area golfing
The course was good considering it had rained on it most of the night. Some of the course needed to be replanted from the drying conditions or wear but overall very good.
I played the best golf of my life today!
I shot a 38 on the back nine. For me that is unbelievable!
Course in good shape and playing very nice.
Great conditions, good pace, smooth greens, great day.
We went Monday around noon, found the course full but the
pace good, played as a foursome.
Greens are in good condition, a few rough spots but not too
fast or slow. Fairways had a few bare spots but we played
winter rules. Lots of sandtraps, some water, houses on both
sides, but overall a great value for the buck.
Always enjoy playing this course.
I like this course. The fairways are pretty wide and the roughs are still manageable. There is always that fear of a wayward shot hitting a house. Tends to make me focus a little more. The Par 3's are very long and challenging. This is a very fun course and can get tough when the wind comes up.
This course has good features.
A good golf course with challenging hole placement to ensure strategic golf shots when coming up to the greens. A quick pace of play and the carts were fully charged and moved about well. Great bang for your buck! Definitely worth playing there at least once.
Up for Sale/Says it all
The course is up for sale and maintenance is somewhat lacking. Those facts may well be connected. The greens were fine, but the fairways were pretty bad. Some bunkers were okay, but others were poor. I got a very good price--$18 with cart--and it was worth that. I wouldn't be happy if I had paid a lot more.
Good course priced right
First let me preface this review- It was 47degrees at 9:15 when we teed off, clear with 5 mph gusts. OK now the review.
They were a little loosie-goosie with starting times. We were told we could just go up and start when ready. We started early, no complaints, but, golfers came up while we were waiting to hit. I guess I would have liked the starter to be more proactive, taking care of the starting arraignments away from the tee box.
Course was in good shape for January 22, given the cold snap we have had lately. Greens were not as fast as I like, but they rolled well (probably about 8.5). Fairways had some thin-ness, but again it's winter golf. Bunkers were well placed and relatively consistent. The greens complexes were outstanding, shot placement was crucial to scoring. Course design was above average given the land they worked with, Ted Robinson does good work!
Rio Vista is a windy area, Most holes are totally exposed to the wind, but the design is such that you play into, downwind and crosswind within the same 9 holes, as it is a figure-eight lay-out. Only a couple of holes were side by each, there was no waiting for the group on the parallel hole to come into our fairway to play their shots.
I would take a group there to play, it would be a fun tourney destination. I would play it again without hesitation. If have never played it and you golf in the area it is worthy, and with a golf now dot com price it is a bargain!
Windy
It's always a different experience here because of the wind an I love it
Beautiful Course
Rio Vista "Trilogy course is always a challenge for me. The course plays extremely difficult when the wind is blowing. I will accept the challenge and go back soon.
Fun course in the middle of nowhere.
This is a retirmement community course so the design is friendly rather than taxing. There are several tees available if the golfer seeks to increase the challenge. Water intrudes on play on several holes and the Delta winds can make the course play more difficult than expected.
There is a nice grass driving range.
Great course and friendly staff.
Paired me up with a good partner and was able to tee off early.
Off the beaten path.
The fall weather is bringing this little jem around. Nice fairways, AA greens, and a nice layout with peace and quiet during the round. Course was busy but patrons keep up a nice pace of play. Looking forward to another round at Trilogy, Rio Vista.
Not a golf treasure!!
Bad experience from the beginning! The older gentleman that checked us in was not friendly at all. The fairways were in bad condition... dead spots all over! When I say dead I mean hard dirt. I had to move my ball to a playable location numerous times due to a great drive down the middle of the fairway and sitting in hard pan. It should have been marked ground under repair. One hole I felt like I was in a swamp. The fairway was way over watered and making one with the water hazard next to it. This is summer. I can't imagine what winter looks like. Greens were in good condition... surprisingly! Don't recommend playing this course for more than $25.
senior area
might be slow if very windy, lots of local seniors out there in fives and sixes.
Course is friendly on all levels. Water holes create some challenges, but maps on scorecard helped..
We had a very good time. We were a slow group, but you can generally get around this course reasonably fast.
Rio Vista is fun with friendly staff and waterfalls galore
I always enjoy the Rio Vista course layout, elevated tees and greens, scenic fairways lined with ponds, and waterfulls. Greens have plenty of undulation to make them challenging and speed is perfect right now. I usualy play afternoons, when the fees are lower and pace of play seems faster. There are also tees for each skill level. If the Bunkers were filled with fresh sand, I would have given it five stars. It is still worth the play but check wind conditions before going.. Wind under ten miles an hour is fun, over is hard work. KD
play was a little slow
The greens were very slow but were in good condition fairways were a little dry overall had a good time on the course
could be a nice course if more attention was given to the conditions
We have played this course about 70 times and are residents of the community. The course can be windy at times but it only adds another aspect to the play. Sloppy wet mud puddles in some areas and dry in others. The irrigation system doesn't cover all of the course because of the wind. Tee boxes are dry. Sand traps have water siting in them causing the sand to be like cement when they dry out. The greens are maintained and are in great shape. No Marshalls during the week so play can be slow because of rude players playing 2 or 3 balls. No refreshment cart during the week. It's too bad because it could be a beautiful premier course for the area but the owners won't invest the effort to make it such.
Peaceful course
Awesome course. Well maintained for cheap price. Members and staff are nice. Easy to feel welcomed. If you go later in the day, you sometimes can feel like you're the only one on the course.
Rio Vista golf course
Had a good time at Rio Vista, play was a little slow. All the greens look to be well kept. A couple of spots had standing water, but not bad.
... a follow up to my previous posting of 2013. The course is now owned by Warrior Golf. I, like so many other residents of Trilogy Rio Vista, are very very VERY disappointed with Warrior Golf and what they have done and failed to do with the course. Weeds are popping up everywhere sand traps are hard like cement, hard pan in some areas of the fairways and mud in other, weeds and tall grass everywhere. All of which makes it hard to "play it where it lies." One year ago Warrior sent out a letter that they would start repairing the bunkers in September of 2014. Still waiting. Their excuse... "the dump truck used to bring in sand is broken". Has been for many months. My suggestion to Warrior, if they cared, would be to rent a dump truck. Most recently they were going to address the weed problems. Not much improvement there either. The course is loaded with geese. Goose droppings EVERYWHERE! It makes it hard to put on the greens when your ball is bouncing off goose land mines. Don't waste your money coming to this course as the conditions with cause you more frustration then the game itself. For a great round of golf for less money go to Elkhorn Golf Course in Stockton. Or if you don't mind spending a little more money go to Rancho Solano in Suisun. A WONDERFULL golf experience! As far as the Golf Club in Rio Vista is concerned, I am a resident in Trilogy in Rio Vista and am ashamed of the course. Don't waste your hard earned money. Sorry Warrior Golf but you apparently bit off more then you could chew.
