Sugar loaf

The course was obviously stressed by local wild fires. However the course itself shows lots of rough spots that indicate lack of maintenance. To bad .

Sugar loaf disappointing as course in poor condition

Normally Sugarloaf is fun to play but all the fairways are way overgrown, we lost many golf balls in the fairways, staff very friendly.

What fairways?

The first five holes had 4-5 inch grass in the fairways, and large clumps of grass trimmings from the last time they mowed, which must have been more than a week ago. Take lots of balls!

Tough executive course

Course is a tough executive course and made tougher because the fairways grass is kept longer than normal fairway length so you have to look hard to find your ball and work harder to get the regular distance on your second shot.

Fairways and Greens

My wife and I played this course several times. Love the location and layout, but the fairways are just plain bad. The grass is long, and clumpy, so a perfect tee shot may or may not be found, and if you do find it it's either sitting on the dirt between the clumps (like in a hole 2in deep) or if it is on the grass it is a good inch into the grass.

As for the greens, several have lots of ball marks that makes a true roll on a putt somewhat impossible.

Fun course good pace of play

The course fairways need to be cut more often, greens have defects. But still a fun round. Staff very friendly!

Course Need Attention

Back to Oakmont after all the changes. Played Sugarloaf ( East) Overall the course was in poor shape. T-boxes dry. no grass. Greens with grass missing. Fairways that were lumpy and needed to be cut. Only paid $25.00 otherwise this review would have been harsher.

Great course for beginner and more

This is my first year of playing golf and I find Oakmont East to be a reasonable challenge. Pace of play weekdays can be quick. I finished 18 holes in 2.5 hours using an electric cart, of course. Conditions were excellent overall with just a few boggy zones near sprinklers. Electric carts look to be new.
