About
Carlton Oaks Country Club is the only public Dye Design golf course in San Diego. The course is covered with hundreds of mature trees interspersed with sparkling blue lakes and meandering creeks. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that all possess a unique character. They all offer different challenges in the form of either water hazards of strategically placed sand traps along the fairways. Tricky pot bunkers and interesting elevation changes were also incorporated into the design as well as Dye's signature railroad ties. There are five very different sets of tees that offer a challenging round from the back tees but also enough playability to appeal to a range of skill levels. In addition to the enjoyable layout, Carlton Oaks is one San Diego's most centrally located courses, sitting just minutes from downtown and many of the city's major attractions.

Ok course. Not worth roughly $70 with cart
Tee boxes and greens are in good shape. Would be nice if patrons would repair ball marks though. Fairways need lots of care. Too many bunkers and some are excessively big. No GPS in carts. Water and restroom access on course is above average. Putting area is great but driving range needs some TLC. Overpriced experience for about $70 with cart. $45 with cart would be more fair

Complete CRAP hole!! It’s very sad that a golf course that was so good they used to play the NCAA championship’s there, has gone to complete CRAP!!
Wouldn’t play again if it were FREE!!

Layout challenging.
Greens were good. Fairways and rough very dry and little grass.

Don’t come here
I can’t believe they charged me $80 with a cart to play this place. No good fairways, no course maintenance. It should cost $30 to play here MAX!!! I read the reviews before I went and wanted to see for myself but I should have stayed away. Read mine and trust that this is not worth the weekend rate. We played with an ambassador of the course and him and his friend had horrible etiquette, always standing in front of my shots and rushed us along the entire time. I would have a great handicap also if I picked up every 8 footer and called it par also.

Clean up around the greens and fairways

Needs love , course has so much potential
Played fast. So many gopher holes. Lost balls that were in play were lost. Fairways were ground under repair everywhere. Greens and area immediately around the green were in good shape. Sand has improved where it matters.
It still baffles me that they don’t have hot dogs ready. Management, buy a hot dog machine or have sandwiches ready. There were only ham sandwiches and they sounded gross.
Food was good at the bar post round. Wish this course was in better shape. Wouldn’t pay more than 40$ here. There are better courses at this price point they are selling now.

Was Great
This is a Dye designed course (the son not Pete). They used to hold qualifiers here and the conditions were great. Now, the classic Dye wasteland bunkers are filled with rocks, weeds and dirt. The fairways are patchy clumps of grass and dirt. The layout is great but the course is in need of some serious TLC. The place has been sold and the new owner wants to turn it into a park style course and litter it with condos. This must be the only reason it’s not being taken care of…

Good Value
This was obviously a good golf course in the past. It has some really good holes and some tough greens. The staff were all very friendly.
Unfortunately, the fairways were not in great, but the price we paid reflected it and was fair!

THE COURSE IS LESS THAN 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. THE FAIRWAYS WERE DIRT AND THE GREENS WERE IN FAIR CONDITION. I HAVE SEEN BETTER COW PASTURES.
