Bonaventure Golf Club
About
Bonaventure Golf Club (formerly known as Bonaventure Country Club) is a classic Florida layout with holes routed through strands of mature palms and hardwoods, and around numerous water hazards and expansive bunkers. This course, designed by Joe Lee, is also called the Green Monster. Some people call it the Cascade Course because of the waterfall on the picturesque 160-yard, par-3 third. This signature hole has a waterfall that stretches across the front of the green.

What am I missing
The three of us, none being good golfers, loved the course. Sure, there were patches here and there but we loved playing the course.
We have passed this over in the past based on reviews but glad we gave it a shot.
The staff was also very friendly and helpful, a pleasure to deal with even when we were the last on the course near darkness, they said play until you finish.
We will be back.
Bad all the way around
Course is not in good shape. Green are bare or disease. Tee boxes are trash.
Staff Members
Staff was fantastic right from the Pro shop to the team outside, Marshals were very easygoing and the cart service was the best that we experienced all week. Very enjoyable round.
Bonaventure
Its an awesome course, lots of water and narrow fairways. Can be slow but lots of fun.
Fast morning round at Bonaventure
My pay and tee'ed off today at 8:30. The twosome in front of were great golfers so they did not slow us down at all. We even had a Ranger and cart girl out of the course today. Greens were mowed and the Tee Boxes were in great shape. I posted a couple of pictures of the rebuilt 5th and 17th greens. Lots of golfers on the course after we played as the parking lot was semi-full. We went to the bar and had two drafts.
All good at Bonaventure today...
Bonnaventure
Nice course, lots of water, fast greens. Slow play. Be prepared for at least a 4-hour round. The course needs a warden to move play along. Take a few minutes to look for your ball, drop and move on.
Locals
I booked an early tee time for me and my coworkers. The staff was very helpful getting us going, since it was our first time at Bonaventure. I’d heard a lot of negative thing about the course but the seemed to be exaggerated. The tee boxes and the greens were probably 3/5 but overall the course was pretty nice. I loved the layout and the waterfall. Unfortunately the snack shack still wasn’t opened after our first 9 and the restaurant was closed after we finished.
Ignore the old reviews - Great Conditions / Great Price
I played today (08:00) with some of my friends who live here in South Florida. We play here at least once a week and have enjoyed the improvements to the course. The fairways are green and the three problem greens have been completely restored and are in perfect condition.
Holiday visitors / snowbirds are back in town so be sure to get a tee time if you want to play in the morning. The locals have started to come back too and this course can become really busy in the morning.
Late round of golf
I played today on the front nine today and had to head home. I only wish I had time to finish 18.
The parking lot was full at 2:00 so I was no rush to mix it up with all the holiday visitors / once a year golfers out there on the course. I went out around 3:45 and played nine holes in one hour. The first, fifth, and seventh greens have been rebuilt and are in wonderful shape. I was able to get on in three shots on the par 5 - seventh hole. Yahoo, this is my most challenging hole on the course. It has a rather wide fairway yet there's water all along the right side.
Great golf and weather conditions today at Bonaventure. I hope to get out again soon once all the holiday visitors have left for town. Otherwise be sure to book a tee time as this course has become quite popular. Evidently the locals are coming back after the three problem greens have been rebuilt. Don't let the "out of date" reviews scare you away. This course is a Gem!
Value
Good value for the money. A lot of grass and very green, too. Traps are in very good condition.
This courses in abysmal shape
This course has years of absolutely abysmal shape, couple of months of work isn’t going to fix years of issues and lack of care.. Other reviews are clearly just trying to mislead but the matter of the fact is to be charging anything higher than $25 for this pasture is absurd. This course is by far the worst golf course in at the Miami/Broward County area don’t waste your money
Wow. I really doubt you have played this course lately. Three greens have been rebuilt and are perfect condition. The fairways are green and the tee boxes have new grass growing. Don't throw this course under the bus unless you give a fair chance. Play the course or go Jacaranda and play $ 165.00 for a round.
Ignore older reviews - the course is doing great!
Don't believe the old reviews! I played this course about 8 months ago for $30 and swore I'd never play it again. Even for thirty bucks, it wasn't worth it. The fairways were cow pastures and the greens were basically all sand and unplayable.
Then a buddy told me he came out on a whim a few weeks ago to play it and that they had completely fixed it up. I decided to give it another shot and WOW! The improvement and turnaround is almost unbelievable. Fairways are in fantastic shape and the greens are mostly great. Tee boxes and rough still need some work but it is getting there and for the money, you can't beat the value.
If you are afraid to play it because of the older reviews - or swore it off like I had - give it a chance. You'll be thrilled at how much it has improved.
You must be kidding. Did you review the wrong course or something?
This course is 100 % better compared to just six months ago.. I'm confused with you review - all the approaches are tee boxes are greens (mostly) and ready for golfers. The greens are currently rolling fast - no bare spots you might remember from last year.
Nothing but green grass from anywhere I I'm lucky to putt from. Things are looking up at Bonaventure.
I played today and there were three foursomes in front of us all trying to finish before sunset.
Lots of golfers at Bonaventure would disagree with you, My advice at this point - get a tee time if you want to play in the morning or you'll be left disappointed.
