The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

A good round of golf, albeit a little pricey for what it was
The Reserve - nice afternoon round
This was my favourite of the 2 courses on the resort. Greens were in much better shape than the Legends although still on the slow side. Great layout with very nice scenic views. Challenging layout for a 6500 yd course. I would recommend this course for $30 or less for sure!
Good course at fair price, conveniently located
My second time playing The Reserve at Orange Lake. Enjoyed this round more than previous one several years ago. There appears to have been a good amount of improvements made. It was quite wet in places this week, probably still a residual result of the hurricane. I will definitely return on a future trip.
Greens in good condition. Held up by slow foursome in front, waited at every shot.
Improving
Course is in much better shape than when I played it in the spring (it was a cow pasture then). This time I paid $10 on a hot deal but I would not pay more than $30 for sure.
Great value for the money
I enjoyed the course....greens were slow but rolled true. Fairways were a bit beat up but nothing bad..back 9 is much nice than the front nine..the British bag drop guy was really nice but the guy in the pro shop was rude...
Good but slow
Liked the layout of the course, plenty of challenges with carries over water and rough areas. Course was in god shape considering the recent hurricanes but was muddy in spots and grounds crews had left a lot of ruts in the areas. Pace was slow at first. 3 4somes on 1st tee ahead of us at our registered tee time. Did a bit of waiting for first few holes and of course those behind you think you are holding up play and try to crowd shots in.
Average layout easy to get around not a whole lot of trouble
Ok condition, but need a ranger
Unfortunately it was cart path only when we played which really slowed things down. I don’t mind the walking but groups ahead of us struggled to keep up which made the round slow.
Condition of the course was ok, greens smooth but very slow and fairways very soft from the watering. I am guessing they are getting the courses ready for the busy season in a month or so. There was overseeding and lots of water! Ok for the money.
The best it’s ever been
Amazing. Just amazing. We visit every year and it’s now the best I’ve ever seen it. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are just perfect. The layout has always been a challenge, but perfect conditions around these challenging holes make for a very enjoyable experience. So nice that I returned and played it again rather than another course in the area.
I was disappointed to see wood pallets laying alongside the cart path on #5. They’ve been there a while as grass has grown around them. And also disappointed to see a number of bottles floating in the swamp below the bridge between #2 and #3. Minimal effort is needed to pick these up. Not sure why it’s not done daily.
Overall though, just a fantastic experience.
Penny Ante, Dollars Out the 'FANNY'!
WOW! I got a great deal through 'GolfNow'! 20 something dollars for greens fees, normally over $50.
WOW! The Rental Clubs were over $30
WOW! I got no help finding my way to pick up the clubs & cart! When I got there, I was given a fairly new looking bag and clubs.
WOW! They forgot to tell me, I needed to go back to the pro shop & buy some balls & tees, Another $30 plus!
WOW! I got hooked up with some great guys, who loaned me a towel and ball markers.
WOW! I wanted to grab a snack & wait for my wife to come pick me up, so I find the place is set up to sell overpriced FUDGE and overpriced Hot Dogs and they don't accept CASH!!!
WOW! I'm just happy I left with the shirt on my back.
Fun time
The course was in the best condition in years. Have played there many times. Think its under new management.
Better than expected
The course was in good shape. Greens a little slow because of top dressing but that should be gone soon as there has been heavy rain recently.
Course is recovering from heavy rains/hurricane
The course was on 90 degree rule to protect the fairways but was not too wet. The starter was very friendly, and the beverage cart came round 3 times during our round. Our round was completed in just over 3 hours which was great.
We had wanted to play the Legends course but GolfNow had incorrect information stating only the back 9 holes were open and had to be played twice. The Reserve course is always a challenge and an enjoyable course.
