The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

Played a lot of courses in Florida and this was somewhat disappointing . The sister course on the same site is the Legends and is twice as good. The fairways were spotty. The greens however were in great shape. The downside is the scorecard does not give you a picture or layout of each hole. The sign posts do not give you a picture or layout either. So you are golfing blind. I would play it again but with mixed feelings. The Legends is the one to play if you are on site.
had a great. day
Fair course with many bunkers and some water. Reachable par 3s. Fun to play.
Short but tight
The course is pretty short. Played from teal (longest) and still a couple of 300yd par 4's. Landing zones are right though. Either you play a 7 of tee or drive to tight area.
Course was in okay condition. A couple bare spots on greens and even more on some fairways. It winds it way through town homes (rentals) and is nice looking.
Pace of play and stater was strange. Had a 8:45a tee time. Got range balls at clubhouse and went to range. Asked about a starter and he said just go. Single player and though this was weird. Practiced and then tee'd off alone with a 3-some in front. By second hole I was on them and waiting and waiting. By 3rd hole, another single was behind me and had him join me. By 6th hole, had another single join our group. We were still waiting on the 3-some. At the turn, they must have went in for something. Back 9 went faster, but caught up to a 2-some and waited on them. A ranger did come by around 15 and said it was open in front if 2-some and he would push them. Overall we played in about 3.5 hrs. So pretty good. But it was a Sunday at 7:45 start and advertised as 'fast play' in golf now app? I can imagine a little pater taking a long time.
Really enjoyed course!
The course was well maintained...greens great shape, fairways also great. Staff friendly and cart attendants very helpful. Can't wait to play again.
Good Round
Course is always fun to play with a nice variety of holes and shots...some fairways and tee boxes were roughed up, but didn't affect play...the greens on the other hand were in great shape compared to most places we have played in FL this year...plush and just a few spots here and there..but rolled great! The staff was awesome too..took good care of us from the register to the course..no beverage cart though, but water along course to keep you going.. Now is a great time to play esp. with the great rates!
Orange Lake Reserve
Nice course to play at an excellent price. Presented a good challenge, tight course need to hit fairways. Would play again and recommend to friends.
Golf trip 2014
The course was in good shape given that he temperatures were over ninety pace was quite slow but it was busy its a difficult course if you play off the wrong tees (golf doesn't like macho) main reason for a poor report is just purely there was no ice for cool boxes and the drinks cart may or may not be available depending if the driver turned up consequently i was fried by nine its a cashless resort which is fine but the terminals weren't working so they had to do it the old fashioned way but theres nothing wrong with the course or the staff (drivers of refreshment carts excluded ) oh we had a gator about 5 foot in the pond next to the 9 tee box so be careful out there
Don't. Stay away. Unless you are staying there !
Staff not very friendly. No course Marshall. No. Starter, Ok track for high handicap. No golf Etiquette ! Full of wild life.
Orange Lake Reserve
Nice course, lots of wildlife. Greens were good not great and same for fairways. For the price it was a great value. Only complaint was good on the course was very expensive!
not very well managed
no drinking water on course
no score cards on carts
no beverage cart
no golf tees
good
reserve is a very nice place to play golf very scenic
and nice size greens allowing great scoring opportunities.
No maps anywhere
If you have never been it is a guessing game.
No maps on scorecards or hole headstones.
Everything else was great.
OCR-Reserve
Other than the greens which were being aerated, the course was in great shape.
Good value, not too difficult
I had a fantastic experience at the Reserve course at Orange Lake. Conditions were decent, greens recently aerated (which resulted in a $17 round). Got paired up with two great guys. We played quick and all played fairly well. This is not on the same level as Grand Cypress, Grande Pines, Championsgate, etc. But it is a nice course that is a good value.
Aerated Greens
The only things that kept this golf outing from being an overall five star experience was 1) the greens were aerated and sanded and 2) the cart girl sold me a can coke and regular snickers bar for $5. I obviously did not tip, $2.50 a piece for those items, please. Other than that the staff was pleasant and the course was well kept.
Enjoyable course
The course was in pretty good shape other than they had just done the greens and fairways and a lot of sand on the greens but in a couple of days they will be fine. Great course for the money.
It's OK
Not a bad track but lacking any wow factor. Good value for the GolfNow green fee.
Cart guys very helpful but young man in pro shop was off hand and arrogant

Everything just appeared to be good enough. Condition, cost and course, Just average.
Good value
The staff were great and the course was in very good condition. Would recommend this course for value and play. Nice advantage for ladies, my wife liked that a lot!
