Royal New Kent Golf Club

First 9 hole was awesome. Back nine with home view was as nice as the first nine holes. It was wet on fairway probably from rain from previous day. That was only complaint I had but overall it was enjoyable.

RNK is a roller coaster of a golf course. Challenging layout! Conditions were great for November! Staff was friendly and helpful! It’s come a long way since new management took over! Would rate it above Tobacco Roads!

Course was challenging, but fantastic fun even in the wet weather. They were accommodating to allow me to ride in the rough due to my disability. Definitely will go back many more times.

A beautiful, highly challenging course. You only saw the hole you were on for most holes. The front 9.plays through a forest. Lots of elevation changes. Well-placed bunkers. Each hole is framed beautifully. The greens were a good speed. but appeared slower than normal because of the recent rains. I played the 6200 tees. Unfortunately, because of recent rains, it was cart paths only, and the course felt like 6800 yards!

Every hole is like a signature hole! Some were long. There were forced carries, and decisions to lay-up. The short holes had their own challenges, like not using a driver, blind shots to green or severely sloped greens.

The course earns every bit of its high slope.

I look foward to returning when the course is dry.

The greens and fairways were pristine! The best ever.

Some attention could be paid to the cart paths.

Beautiful course, hidden deep in Va. very difficult, requires accurate hitting. We played 36.

Memorable. A bit terrifying. A truly incredible course. I’ve played maybe 100 courses in my life (8.5 handicap) and this would definitely be top 2-3. Would not recommend for beginners. There were many “what?!” moments from the layout, plenty of hills/serious dog legs, and forces you to play both smart and accurate golf. As difficult as enduring as it was, we can’t wait to come back. Pretty pricey but worth every penny. Greens = excellent.

this course is absolutely beautiful but oh my is is hard. as someone who’s only been playing a year, this course was waaaay out of my league. i usually shoot in the low 80’s at my home course and i shot well over 100 here. but still a beautiful course.

I called the course around 1 because I got stuck in a meeting and couldn't even call to cancel the tee time and Dan was very kind and said I could come on out...that it was open. However, when I got there at 2:45 it was not open! I couldn't even finish my round because of how many golfers were on the course! It ended up being a truly frustrating day!!

In one sentence:” You know how courses have a signature hole? Royal New Kent has 18 of them. “

That was my son’s comment after our round. Mike Strantz would be proud of the conditions and presentation of his masterpiece. Amazing greens, top notch conditions all around. Must play this stunning, very challenging course.

Course was soggy. It would be nice if there was a card that showed the layout of the course for those who haven’t played the course before

I can’t imagine there’s many better golf courses in the US. The scale of the course is incredible. Not a lazy hole or piece of terrain on the property. Challenging yet fair and playable. But really it’s just a work of art.

Let me preface by saying, this course is an absolute gem. The renovation team outdid themselves on this one, might very well be one of my favorite courses. Period. I was fortunate enough to play on an empty weekday morning in summer and fell in love with the layout. Seems like word is out now though - I went back to play recently to find 20+ people clogging the first tee for my 8 am tee time. I ended up just eating the cost of the round and driving down the street to Viniterra. It’s great to see this course thriving because it is legitimately an architectural marvel - unfortunately it doesn’t seem as though the course management knows how to handle the new influx in players.

All around great course from tee to green. My favorite. Great experience. A must play if u come within 2 hrs of this gem
