Royal New Kent Golf Club

Never even got to play after waiting two hours after my tee time. They had no carts at least 20 guys sitting waiting for carts. Can’t even believe it. They did give me two rain checks to make up for it but my day was wasted and no golf on my weekend in Virginia.

Tee’d off at 10:20, got through 11 and there was two groups waiting to tee off at 12. Didn’t feel there was any spacing for what I could see so it was not slow play. This was now 14:00 when I arrived at the 12th tee. I was not able to continue because it would have taken another 3 hours at that pace and when I asked Bob for a 9 hole rain check, I was basically told In the end there was nothing that could be done. It wasn’t the money, it was the principal and let’s say Bob didn’t give two $h?:‘s. Called in my order at the 9th tee and waited 15 min anyway... great course, terrible customer service. Left a message for the head professional but never got a call back.

Royal New Kent is by far my favorite course in the entire area! So I am very disappointed that their rates have been so high through GolfNow recently! Why the huge increase? It's bad enough that you have to drive 30 minutes to get there from Richmond, but to be charged $87 it's pretty ridiculous! I really hope the new Pro and administration will come up with a better price! Otherwise I am going to have to find a new favorite course. And so will several other people that I am friends with that play there!

Every Green was beautiful! Every Fairway was perfect. I have never seen this course in better shape!

The course was in great shape from the tee boxes to the fairways to the greens, even tho the greens had been “top dressed“ this morning. Had to look for a few of the proper tees hidden by the 4 feet tall natural grasses! Shots into the greens barely left ball marks and putting was true and average speed. Wasn’t in a trap all round but some needed work to mirror the excellent condition of the fairways. Temp was in low 90’s and course had bottled water in cooler on cart! Nice touch. Pace of play could have been better but threesome if front would not let us(a twosome) go thru so we waited on most shots.Still made it around in 4 hours and 10 minutes

Only (minor) disappointment was that I had heard the course had reopened with layout changes making it close to a links style course I guess I was misinformed!

Got a great deal on TeeOff.com but still paid $51. Saw that regular greens fee is $95 Will come back again when I find a deal as good or better than today.

I drove up here on a spur of the moment morning in an effort to try something different, and it worked out perfectly. The course was in great condition with perfect pace of play. The had multiple holes that required precise shots off the tee, and challenging approaches. The closest I have found to an Irish links course in the area. Fantastic round, and excellent staff.

Good to return to RNK after a couple of years hiatus. Unfortunately, we played behind the last group in a huge group outing and turned the front nine at 2 hours and 55 minutes. Great course but just wasn’t fun. Left after 12 holes!

Even with all of the rain the course was in excellent shape. Greens were rolling fast and true. Will definetly be back and hopefully Mother Nature will provide drier conditions.

Considering all of the rain that hit the area over the past week the course was in outstanding shape. The greens were true, fairways damp in spots but only two holes were cart path only. The layout was a serious test with many blind shots and hidden greens. The starter was very friendly and helpful. I plan on adding this course to our next Mancation.

Fun course. Traps were in a little disrepair as they had 10+ inches of rain the week prior and there are a lot of traps! Course is spread out over a lot of acreage. Some challenging carries. Greens were in excellent shape. I would certainly return. My wife played from the front tees and it was fair except for a few of the longer par 5s.

This is a great golf course. Can be very difficult because it is a target course and if you play it for the first time there are a lot of blind shots. Today I played for the first time and was extremely lucky on some of my shots. Buy the yardage book on download the course on an app. Course knowledge is imperative on this course. Also, make sure and play the proper Tee Boxes, this is one of those courses if you play it for the first time that you might want to consider playing one more forward.

The elevations on this course are incredible. The bunkers were in terrible shape, because of all the rain they had the previous week. Not uncommon for the bunkers to have 15’to20’ elevations to the green.

The greens were in very good shape, hard and fairly quick. Had been top dressed in the past week or so. But the putts rolled true.

I will definitely come back and play this course again.

What an awesome and unique course. Every hole presented a unique challenge and was fun. The designers made great use of the land which leads to a memorable golfing experience.

I was amazed at the condition of the course as well. After days of intense rain followed by high temps, the course was well drained and the greens were perfect.

I highly recommend this course!
