Brickshire Golf Club

We booked 18 holes for 1040, and we left after 9 because it took us 3 hours. This was the slowest pace of play ever, was not happy.

Good value for the money since it was a hot deal. Has to wait 15 minutes for a cart. Bunkers were trash. Rest of the course was in good condition and it’s an entertaining layout. Do not miss the fairway; the Bermuda rough was brutal!

Played here the other day for the first time in over a year. Course was in good condition since last outing there. Looking to return soon to play again.

Got a great weekday tee time price for Brickshire so we had to try it. After arriving, we found out we had to play the front nine twice due to aeration being done on the back. So we were disappointed not seeing the whole course with it being our first time there. But it certainly explained the great deal we got. Don't recall seeing any notation on the Golfnow site that would have been nice to know ahead of booking. Glad we got to play part of the course though because the regular prices for ttee times is a bit more than we're use to for our play.

Course is in good shape just need to fix bunkers whcih they are working on.

The course was in very good condition My only fault with the course was the bunkers. They needed some attention. The group that I was in had a great time and the pace of play was quick. I would play Brickshire more if it was closer but it's an hour away for me.

Course conditions were a 4.5 out of 5. The bar and restaurant are always excellent. Pace of play was also excellent but it could’ve been because of how hot it was. The GolfNow rate made it a good deal. I would go back there anytime I could find a good deal there.

I absolutely love the layout of Brickshire. It gives you a mix of risk/reward holes, long and short distances, and wide and narrow fairways. You have to watch the slope on these fairways, as you can get some sideway bounces that put you into trouble. Better to select a club you can control and hit the fairways then try to go for maximum distance. Many of the courses along I64 between Richmond and Williamsburg have a lot of left-over damage from the cold winter, but Brickshire seems to have come through the winter with less damage than the others. I saw only a couple of holes where sod had been cut out and it looks like preparation for new sod to be laid. On one of the back 9 par 3's, they had already laid sod around three-quarters of the green, so they obviously are repairing some of the damaged spots. The course is in fairly good condition, although the bunkers needed more sand and raking. The pace was a little slow for a Tuesday--I came up behind two fairly slow foursomes, but just enjoyed being outside. This course is a great layout and fun to play, but just pack a little bit of patience and course management.

Great lay out. Bring your driver this is not a course for beginners. Alot of forced distant carries off the tees. Which is what golf is for many blind shots even alot of second shots with still not seeing flag. This is not a old man course for lite golf with alot of ball placement. This is placement with distance. Alot of steep runoff valleys.great views down the fairways. Definitely got the feel of playing a pro course. Score card wise we were touched in a bad way but very much looking forward to playing again. Traffic was light plenty of room to let people play through.

Definitely need to come back when course is green!

Surprised the carts are still running. Cart paths desperately need work. There are sections that the tree roots have lifted three or four inches above the adjacent sections.

Played here a couple weeks ago, and came back for a second crack at it. Temps were in the low 40s, opted to play the blues again. The blue vs white tees are mostly different on the par 3s, in which they become completely different holes.

There’s some bunkers that don’t drain well, and as a result were either hard packed or had standing water. Outside of that, the course was in great cold weather shape. Greens were still quick and tricky, fairways were close to fully dormant but still gave good lies, and the rough wasn’t as thick, which actually resulted in some offline shots getting away.

Compared to the public courses in Richmond, Williamsburg/New Kent offers way better value and using GolfNow makes it worth the drive for this budget conscious golfer.

This course makes exceptional use of elevation changes and the natural slope of the land to challenge you shot shaping and shot making abilities. From drivable par 4s, to par 3s that might require driver/fairway wood depending on tee selection and weather that day, to well placed fairway bunkers that split the routing of certain holes, this course will see me again.
