The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Another 5-Star Review...
Played Today with 2 mates at 1:40pm and finished in 4h:50m with hotdogs at the turn. We are all in our 60's and lack the quickstep of our youth so we coedially let 3 groups play through.
Exceptional Course Conditions!
Greens are nearly perfect, tees & fairways all Lush!
6 different tees, fresh sand in ALL bunkers!
It clearly CAN be done, folks. KUDOS VINITERRA...
Shot a 94 against my 14.1 GHIN with exactly 36 putts.
Removed my 3 wood, 3, 4 & 5 irons to see how short my Approaches would be from 7,169yds.... ~21 yds on every hole. I only GIR'd on the 15th after my longest drive [268yds] of the day. All other drives were 235 yds, so next round I'm teeing from 6,769. Go Play!
Nice course when it doesn’t take five hours to play
Course is in good shape greens look decent decent amount of ball marks on them. Tee boxes look pretty solid fairways look gorgeous. The biggest problem was the pace of play after nine holes took us 4 1/2 hours we called into the pro shop to which Connor told us that was a normal piece of play however I don’t ever remember five hours for a round of golf being a normal pace of play. He told us he would send somebody out and then never did literally finish at the five hour mark on a Wednesday morning tee time . If they can get that under control and some of the ball marks on the green. This would definitely be a five star course hands-down.
Meh
It was an okay place I’ve played here about 4 years ago and it was very well kept then but now it’s not great. Tee boxes on some holes looked like I was playing a municipal course. Greens had divots everywhere. It was quite sad that the place has such a great layout and looked like this. It’s the same price as Royal new Kent and there is no comparison. Staff wasn’t great they asked up 6 times when are tee time was and told us to keep pace then a group was playing slow and he passed them and the Marshall was upset with our group even though we were getting back up to pace. We eventually catch around hole 8 and there was no issues but man
Great course
9.5 miles of cart trails through hilly terrain. Course was well manicured and a mixture of challenges. Beverage/food cart came around about every 4 holes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I will be making this a goto course on my next VA visit!
Excellent course
Course layout was great, some of the greens had an excess in ball marks which was disappointing with how nice of a course this is. Pro shop worker seemed to not really care about talking to customers which seemed interesting considering your job is customer service.
Vini grill served good food at the turn, idea of burgers and chicken sandwiches ready to go was neat.
Starter and Marshalls were all courteous.
We enjoyed the course but no one repairs their ball marks on the green. They were all marked up.
Disappointed in the greens
I had high hopes for this course as this is currently the “best rated in VA via Golf Now” but I was very disappointed in the conditions of the greens.
The fairways are in great shape but most of the greens are horrendous and full of pitch marks and bare spots. I only saw two or three greens that were in somewhat decent shape. There are literally 2 or 3 signs that emphasize the importance of repairing your pitch marks on the greens that are clearly ignored.
I won’t be back. It’s not worth the price.
Great day
Everything was great. Staff was happy and helpful. A little tight in driving range area but rest of practice area open and in good shape. Cart lady helpful , greens, fairways and tees all well maintained.
Fun Day in the heat
Course was in very good condition. Practice area a little tight for hitting balls but great sand, pitching and putting areas for practice. Good pace of play but no ranger to move the group in front of us along. Tees , fairways and greens all in great shape. Most of the traps in good shape and mostly consistent, only water in one or two traps after rain . Much better than most courses around Richmond.
Golf with my Grandson
Played with my 14 year old grandson and he beat me 76-79. Great course in really good condition. I’d play this again and again……
