Eagle Mountain Golf Club
About
Designed by Scott Miller, this course is located in the southeastern foothills of the McDowell Mountains and is an innovative departure from the “target” style courses constructed in the desert in the recent past. Its layout takes advantage of a variety of land features: rolling hills, ridgelines, lush valley and washes, with a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded. It is a strategic design, which asks the player to make choices relative to skill level.

Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Worst greens in AZ
the greens were on the worst condition i have ever seen in AZ in 30 yrs. looks like a fungus attacked. also working on bunkers on front nine with areas roped off and equipment everywhere. not a good value - i would wait another year until Troon can turn this property around
Thank you very much for your feedback. We want you to know that our agronomic team is working tirelessly to get the golf course back to the exceptional conditions Eagle Mountain Golf Club is known for. The greens are recovering quickly and should be back to normal by the end of July. The bunker renovation you mentioned will be completed by the end of July as well and will dramatically enhance the overall experience. Thank you again for your feedback.
Greens need work
The course conditions where ok for the money. The worst part was the greens. Also they’re doing lots of bunker work.
Thanks for the great rating. We are glad you enjoyed your day with us and hope to see you again soon.

not a good value - the greens were in the worst shape of any course i’ve ever played in AZ in 30 yrs. also had bunker work in progress with areas roped off and closed. I would not recommend this course until Troon has at least a year to turn it back around
Playable challenging mountain course
They are reworking the bunkers and some of the fairways - so conditions not ideal now but it did not detract from enjoying a great round.

Upside
This is always a fun course, and the condition of the greens didn’t change that. I saw many reviews as to how bad of shape the greens were in and had to see for myself. Are they in good shape? No, they aren’t, but I attribute that to attempting to manipulate the winter grass in to living longer. This year was a tough transition for golf courses. The tees, fairways, and areas around the greens were more than solid so I have no complaints. Most folks leaving poor reviews couldn’t 2-putt from 45 feet regardless of the condition of the greens. I’d recommend this course to anyone who enjoys a good, solid challenge as it is a second shot golf course.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
Bad Greens!!!
The course was generally in good shape EXCEPT for the bad greens!!!
tee to green the course was in very good condition and I could live with the numerous bunkers under repair but the front nine greens were terrible and the back nine, while they were somewhat better they still need attention. not sure if a fungus got em or what.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We want you to know that our agronomic team is working tirelessly to get the golf course back to the exceptional conditions Eagle Mountain Golf Club is known for. The issues experienced are short term and we are seeing improvements in the conditions each and every day as we transition from the winter ryegrass to the strong warmer season Bermuda turf. We also
embarked upon a course enhancement program in May that will include a bunker renovation and other turf/agronomic cultural practices that will enhance the agronomic concerns you raised and enhance playability in many other ways. Again what you experienced is not the norm and we are excited about the future as well as the current results we are seeing from the new agronomic practices already being implemented to enhance/elevate conditions. Should you have additional questions/concerns please reach out to info@eaglemtn.com so we can learn more about your experience. Thank you again for your feedback.
Amazing course, bad timing
This is one of my favorites in the valley. I’ve played it many times over the last 15 years, usually in the summer as that’s when I can afford it. It’s a bit challenging for a below average golfer like me… but the views are great and it’s *usually* a beautiful course. This particular day I happened to jump online the day before and saw a number of very recent reviews (within the couple days prior to playing) warning of the course conditions… especially the greens. To be fair, the club house issued a discount preemptively when we paid, but in all honestly? I wouldn’t play this course for several weeks or a month until they get the greens worked out. I’ve never seen such bad greens, even in the summer, at a course. This wasn’t just “hot, dry, arid climate” greens… I don’t even know how to describe it. It was impossible to read and gauge any greens speeds with the inconsistency from grass, to sand/dirt, to what looked like either some kind of grass mold or something used to help regrow the greens. It looked like one of those aerial views from out of space of a continent with green, brown, and other colors.
With that being said- I have no doubt they’ll workout the kinks- it’s a great course worth playing- just right now it’s hard to recommend.
The greens were horrible
I paid $100 to play this course and the greens weren’t even greens. It was like putting in the desert. I loved the other aspects of the course just feel like I got screwed out of a $100 unfortunately
Has potential, but terrible conditions
Love the course layout, beautiful Mountain View’s, nice elevation changes. Terrible conditions, almost all the greens were pretty much unplayable with huge patches going through most greens. Fairways were decent, but lots of dirt and patches. Bunkers were rough, but they are going to bunker renovations so hopefully that gets better. For a troon course, I expected so much more.
Greens
The greens had a major issue and are the worst I've ever seen. A couple of employees said they had some "blight". They have painted many of them green but in a lot of cases you are putting on what is essentially hard wood flooring. There is no grass in many parts or it's brutally clumpy. It's not worth $10 playing here until they get it back in shape. The fairways were below average as well. I really like this place but call ahead before booking.
Greens
The greens were horrible. I understand a few greens in the summer may be dried out but 15 of the 18? Unacceptable for the price

Poor Course Mgmt
GREAT COURSE LAYOUT. So many burned out areas in fairways they couldn’t mark as “ Ground Under Repair “. Greens so Burned Out we had to invoke “Max 2 Putts” LUMPY & BUMPY

Yikes
Played June 2021. Don’t PLAY even if they give you a free round.
Find a new greens keeper ASAP. This is by far the worst greens I’ve ever played. Such a beautiful course ruined by un-puttable greens. The staff has sorts of excuses why their so bad. STOP, no more excuses. It never rains in Phx, turn on the water like the other courses do.

Terrible greens
The last time I played here was 2 years ago and it was in good shape. Now it was terrible and I would not recommend this course to anybody.

Terrible Condition
They have blight and the greens are in terrible condition. Normally, I love this course but they have some work to do to get it back to where it should be.
Do not play !!!
The greens are virtually unplayable. Worse greens I’ve played in years
