Eagle Mountain Golf Club
About
Designed by Scott Miller, this course is located in the southeastern foothills of the McDowell Mountains and is an innovative departure from the “target” style courses constructed in the desert in the recent past. Its layout takes advantage of a variety of land features: rolling hills, ridgelines, lush valley and washes, with a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded. It is a strategic design, which asks the player to make choices relative to skill level.

Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Condition
The course is in terrible condition due to blight. The greens are spray painted dirt. Bunkers are also in bad shape. I saw no mention of conditions when I booked tee time on Golf Now.
The greens were terrible and the fairways were not substantially better. Very disappointing compared to other times played
Great layout
Great track and layout. Greens on front nine had some damage so putting wasn’t ideal. Had two foursomes in front who were slow. Said since we were on 4.5 hr pace of play it was fine. Could’ve been much better had that made the two groups keep up. Would play again when greens are better.
5/14
Course is great greens are horrible due to a disease in the grass
This course is in the worst shape that I’ve ever seen.
I can understand fairways being a little dry, but this was rediculous. Clumps of weeds were everywhere, brown patches, areas that looked like ground under repair. But this was good compared to the status of the greens. I’ve been golfing for 25 years. I’ve golfed throughout the USA as well as in Spain, Italy, and Ireland and never have I seen greens in worst shape. Now add to that the bunkers were like hitting on concrete - almost impossible to take any sand. One of the washrooms on the course didn’t have any running water and smelled like an outhouse. The golf cart had patches on the seat. All in all, it felt like it was in the throes of bankruptcy. If it isn’t, it probably will be in the not too distant future.
$89 Rip off
The greens are obviously diseased and even outside the greens including some fairways are in bad condition.
1) No way you can justify charging $89. The course isn't even worth playing for $29.
2) Impossible to make a putt or find a decent lie on the fairways.
3) Very very disappointed in this course management. Troon should know better...
This course is awesome
Everything was great about this course except the greens the conditions weren’t that great they looked like if they had a fungus or something, but they still had some good speed.
Other than that this is a great course and I would recommend it to anybody.
DO NOT PLAY EAGLE MOUNTAIN
Pros: staff is friendly and efficient. Tee boxes are level and actually have grass.
Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE! This course is in terrible condition. Fairways and rough have huge areas where the grass is GONE! The bunkers have no sand in the bottoms and ankle deep sand in the faces. THE GREENS ARE GONE: they are basically bare dirt that has been painted green.
We played this course a couple of years ago and loved it. I wish I had read reviews before playing today. We paid $100 each to play Eagle Mountain and it isn't worth even $20!
Save your money and do not play Eagle Mountain! They should shut the course down until they get things back in shape.
Great Views, Fun Layout but Terrible Course Conditions
Course conditions were terrible for how much I paid. Much better kept courses in the area for the same price or cheaper. Greens were terrible, but the Gold Tee boxes were good. Fairways were terrible. The views made up for the bad course conditions.
Do not play this course
The course is in terrible condition. Fairway is scalped. We hit from dirt on many holes. The greens have that dried up grass patching on them. I've never played a worse course than this.
Poor fairway and greens condition
It’s terrible that your web site does not mention how bad the course conditions.. are. I would not have brought my friends to this golf course especially with all the other great courses in the area, shame on you Troon
PC
Course was in bad shape. Played her this past November and it was beautiful. Very disappointed... greens and fairways were in horrible condition especially the greens. Hope the problem is soon resolved . Too pretty of a layout for the less than perfect conditions. Won’t be coming back. Wish were given a heads up!
Horrible conditions
I look forward to playing this golf course every year I come down here. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this golf course in such crappy shape. I can’t say I’ll everhe come back. Not even discounted golf for such poor conditions what a joke.
Worst shape course in all of Scottsdale
We played EM on April 13th with family from out of state. I have played EM off and on over 25 years and worked there when it first opened. I have never, ever experienced this golf course in such sad shape. The greens had huge bare spots....I mean zero to very little grass and painted green with the fertilizer. Fairways and rough...sad as well. Zero excuses and at a minimum, let paying golfers know what kind of shape the course is in. Didn’t lower their rates at all...total BS!! Will never come back.
Horrible Conditions
I had not played the course in a year. The greens are horrible. Some areas are painted to hide the lack of grass. The fairways lack quality grass as well. The traps had very little sand in them. TROON should be ashamed by this poor quality .There was NO notification, NO discount offered and NO apologies,
