Wigwam Resort - Gold Course

About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

update to angry review
First of all I'd like to update my previous post . I left the previous message in anger due to their bold approach of guilt. I should have contacted their golf pro to explain his accusation.. I will call his office tomorrow and give him the benefit of the doubt.
I was a passenger in the cart (not the driver) and my playing partner was the main driver of the cart. Also, I walked several holes because of errant shots and maybe something happened while I was away??? My partner has denied crashing the cart. If the cart was unknowingly damaged during our round, then I would be flabbergasted.
So after cooling down:
I really liked playing here and the course has a nice and challenging layout. The restaurant/bar looks enticing. Walking to the pro shop is a little confusing (the parking lot is across the street) but we found it without a hitch. The price of their sandwich on the course was reasonable.
Play here and they’ll accuse you of damaging their cart
I played here on 10/4 and five days later I get an email telling me to give them my CC to pay for damages to their cart. Wow!!! I couldn’t believe it! They said I rolled it or crashed into a tree and that the frame was bent. So it took them five days to notice that??? I’ve been playing for over 30 years and never experienced anything like this.
In that first email they’re asking me to pay for damages or else they’ll file a police report. When you’re innocent, you fight to the end. As a firefighter and a veteran, I’d expect the first email to ask me to contact them regarding damage to their cart. But I’m guilty by their “kangaroo court” before I even read that first email. What’s the use of discussing the situation with them if their court has already preordained me guilty. Bring on the police report and the lawsuit. When you’re innocent, you got to defend yourself.
I wonder how often they make these false accusations to out of state golfers. But, that’s okay, I’m in Scottsdale all the time if I have to appear in court. The burden of proof is on them.
I returned a cart in an undamaged condition and then they try to scam me??? If the cart was damaged (an obvious bent frame) like they said it was, then they should have noticed it right away not five days later.
Still a great course
The course is in very good condition and I enjoyed playing Wigwam gold course. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.
Nice round at a historic resort !!!
I love coming out to the Wigwam. Cool vintage resort with a great history and charm. Courses are great value for the money and are in good shape for the most part . Little of the beaten path but worth the drive every once and a while....
Great course
The course is in great condition and I will definitely return to play it again. Considering that it’s close to over seeding time of year, the tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all very nice.
Fantastic Challenge Gold Course
Gold is undoubtedly the best challenge for mid to low handicap players in the west valley. The layout is top notch. The course is in great condition and the greens are very pure and true. Great experience from checking in through the 19th hole. Recommended.
Good layout to play
Good course. Conditions were good, some bad/brown spots but overall good.
Great value in the summer
The course was awesome but I don't think it was in it's best condition. Some greens had severe dirt spots and were a little bumpy, but overall the course was in solid shape for August. Good tee boxes, good fairways. The off course amenities were cool but most of them were closed while we were golfing. Red's restaurant made some good burgers and definitely had good drinks.
Overbooked on Holiday
I was very excited to play this course as I drive by it often and it always looks great. Made a tee-time for mid morning on July 4th and it was slower than rounds in the winter when all the snow bird take over. I understand the need to make money but when you are waiting 10+ minutes on every shot in 113 degree heat, it’s not good for your body. If someone were to have a heatstroke in those conditions who knows what the legal ramifications would be. Had a bad experience solely due to the pace of play. Will not book mid morning again. Greens were decent, fairways were a little dry in places as you would expect in the summer, amenities were great. Friendly pro shop staff. Will try again some time down the road.
The mighty have fallen
Wigwam used to be the pinnacle summer golf courses. Just 4-5 years ago, all three courses used to be lush with Bermuda, greens responsive and rolling smooth, tee boxes in as good a shape as can be, a great 19th hole with good aesthetics, food, and beer. Now, the only thing that’s good is 19th hole. The fairways are blown and explode on impact. Literally sending chunks of dirt all over the place. Tee boxes are somewhat okay. Greens literally have mushrooms growing all over them - likely due to overwatering or lack of aeration? Either way, it’s an eyesore and also causes misdirected putts. So disappointed with this experience. I hold Wigwam to a much higher standard than this. I will not play again this summer. Hopefully they will find a way to clean this up for upcoming season. Too many events hosted here to have the course so poorly maintained.
