Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Las Sendas Golf Club's course, opened in 1995 and among the toughest U.S. courses. Two Zagat surveys have ranked it among the top 50 U.S. golf courses.

Las Sendas Golf Club offers a desert course demanding top play as it takes golfers through the Usery Mountains, with a vista of Phoenix as the tradeoff for managing rough land close to 1,800 feet above the desert. Jones didn't create a course with whimsical decorations like railroad ties, and he didn't build targets. The golf course is for those who strategize, mapping the way from tee to green.

After a round at Las Sendas Golf Club, head to Las Sendas Grille, for the full bar, including wines from California, Australia and Europe, as well as four tap beers and domestic and imported bottles.

Great views and scenic course

I really enjoyed the beauty of this course. Course was in great condition right before intense summer heat hit. The tamest road runners ever on this course and at restaurant patio. Greens are small with lots of slope and challenge. I do not recommend this course for high handicap players. Many narrow fairways too. The gold tees ended up being too long. Made 4 pars feel closer to 5. Im playing here again next week so yes I enjoyed it when I can find a good hot deal. 😃

A little rough

This course looks to have been a great course at one time. It appears the fairways and greens have been incorrectly fertilized, The fairways and greens are in rough shape with bare and or burned off in a majority of areas. Looking forward to playing it again once this has all been corrected. Hopefully next spring.

Greens sparse and fairways being punched

Not much grass on greens. Fairways being renovated during our round. $108 green fees too high for June. Hot deal fair at $55. Great views/layout and good but over-priced lunch. ($22 cheeseburgers).

Great desert Mountain View’s

I really enjoyed the beauty of this course as it had many mountain backdrops. A very pretty course but a tough course. The gold tees ended up being too long for all of us the group of middle aged men. Next time will play blue. This location had the friendliest road runners I’ve ever seen. On course and at the outdoor restaurant. The green were small with lots of slope and some fairways narrow. I do not recommend this course for high handicappers. However I look forward to playing again when I can find good hot deals. Other then a few patchy places the course was in great condition.

5 hours playing behind the group in front of us

Bunkers are like bricks, no sand whats so ever, fairways have patches of brown, greens were good and rolled smooth.

There was a group in front of us at 10:50 and No one if front of them at all. We waited until they hit to the green before we even teed off, and yet when we got to the 2nd tee they were just standing there hitting their balls, and it went like that the whole round. They would leave a par 3 and the 4 of us would hot, some chipped up and putted out and when we head to next tee, they were just leaving---again there wasn't even a soul ahead of them ever. Every shot was hit and wait for 5 hours. Called the club house once, never saw anyone come out and approach them. When we got to hole 14 there were now 3 groups waiting behind us the final 5 holes and one person had had enough and sped past us and the group in front of us, saying he was done!

You couldn't pay me to play this course again.

Grossly inconsistent greens. Design & layout lack any sense of cohesion from hole to hole. They tried put a few holes of target golf in which doesn't play well in contrast to the balance of the course. I am all for punishing the errant tee shot but draining fairways from center cut into rocks & drainages is just typical at this course. Some of the bunker placements are very difficult which I actually enjoyed but again keeping the sand soft & consistent would seemingly be too much to ask. Some are rock hard with maybe 1/2" deep sand others are okay but still not enough sand. A little effort goes a long way with maintaining bunkers.
