Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Las Sendas Golf Club's course, opened in 1995 and among the toughest U.S. courses. Two Zagat surveys have ranked it among the top 50 U.S. golf courses.

Las Sendas Golf Club offers a desert course demanding top play as it takes golfers through the Usery Mountains, with a vista of Phoenix as the tradeoff for managing rough land close to 1,800 feet above the desert. Jones didn't create a course with whimsical decorations like railroad ties, and he didn't build targets. The golf course is for those who strategize, mapping the way from tee to green.

After a round at Las Sendas Golf Club, head to Las Sendas Grille, for the full bar, including wines from California, Australia and Europe, as well as four tap beers and domestic and imported bottles.

Not what it used to be....

The course was in pretty rough shape. We got a hot deal so the value was OK, but to pay the full rate at that course would be awful. There are many areas of dry/dead grass and even the fringes of the greens were bad in many areas. Several times I would have putted but couldn't because the fringe area was so chopped up. We regularly moved the ball on the FW to find some grass. The greens themselves were bumpy and fairly slow due to different strains of grass. Bunkers were crusty on top but if you raked them a bit there was some sand to play from. Maybe it's the current dry weather and the transition to summer conditions that are causing this, but I was considering joining LS and the conditions would certainly have to improve to do that. I am new to the area so perhaps this is a common occurrence this time of year, but I have played other courses recently that were in much better shape. On a positive note, our foursome let a twosome and a single through but otherwise never saw anyone else on the course. We played at a good pace and had a really good time overall.

Chuck

Always love the layout of this course.

I asked the staff before we started how the condition of the course was and they all said it was great.

On the putting green, first fairway and the rest of the golf course, it was average at best.

Worst condition I’ve ever played this course in all the years I’ve been on it

Superb golf experience

Played Las Sendas for the first time. It was superb all the way around. The course is well-staffed. The course layout is challenging and the course itself was in great condition. I look forward to coming back.

Pace of Play

The group in front us were super slow and I was shocked that the Marshall never pushed them forward considering there was not another group in front of them and there was a back up behind us

Playing for speed!

We were having a great time playing at a pace that was anywhere from 10-25 minutes ahead of the pace of play recommended, when about the 12th hole another twosome caught up to us and was pressing the pace. We like to enjoy our time on the course and not see how fast we can play. There was no reason to press the pace of play!!

Tiny Greens

Probably the smallest Greens I have ever played. ALmost impossible to hit and stay on the green. With the course conditions not up to par, I would not recommend playing.

Las Sendas

The course is carved out of a hillside, and wraps around some very nice homes. Mostly target Golf. The golf carts had a flyover mode, which was helpful for shot selection. A modest facility with a pro shop and a restaurant only. The course was in good shape. Greens were fast, and difficult to read because of the slope of the Hills. A nice challenge, but as an 18 handicap golfer, I recommend you select the correct tee’s from which to play, in order to have a better and more enjoyable experience.

Beautiful challenging course but…

Overall experience was great

Unknown why, but the-greens were in subpar condition. They were very hard and had rake marks in most of them.

I was a single and the starter joined another single in my cart, even though they were not busy. It turned out the gentleman I played with, was very nice, but we both didn’t understand why they put us in one cart. With the exception of the greens and that minor issue , the place and experience was great! I would definitely play again.

Challenging Track

It’s overall a really cool design and it will punish you! The hardest part about las sendas is getting out of the tee box! This course requires an accurate drive on every hole.

Watch out for hole #2 it’s an absolute beast !!! WHATEVER YOU DO DONT PLAY DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE.
