Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Las Sendas Golf Club's course, opened in 1995 and among the toughest U.S. courses. Two Zagat surveys have ranked it among the top 50 U.S. golf courses.

Las Sendas Golf Club offers a desert course demanding top play as it takes golfers through the Usery Mountains, with a vista of Phoenix as the tradeoff for managing rough land close to 1,800 feet above the desert. Jones didn't create a course with whimsical decorations like railroad ties, and he didn't build targets. The golf course is for those who strategize, mapping the way from tee to green.

After a round at Las Sendas Golf Club, head to Las Sendas Grille, for the full bar, including wines from California, Australia and Europe, as well as four tap beers and domestic and imported bottles.

Beautiful - and highly challenging - course in Phx area

If there is a harder course than Las Sendas in the greater Phx area, I haven’t played it.

Gorgeous views, speedy greens.

Everything was great but was disappointed in lack of on-course amenities. No beverage cart. None of the snack shacks were open. Bartender could not make drinks “to go” etc. c’est la vie

Gps

It was very frustrating that the cart gps would go into warning way too early and thereby not give you a distance. Many times this happened outside of 100 yards when you still need a distance. So I had to run my own gps also. Not fair to pay for something that doesn't work!!

Tough course

The starter told us it would be tough...and it was. Lots of blinds. Course was in great condition. Some of the tee boxes were confusing and hard to find.

Pace of play was terrible

Had to finish three holes in dark. Start time was 1:30. Pace of play was not regulated and very slow. Waiting on every shot. Grills and snack bars closed before we got to the turn. No cart service. Course condition was great. All else was a terrible experience.

My GolfNow booking failed me

On Oct 22 I booked an 11:00 tee time for Mon Nov 18. Got a confirmation from Las Sendas that day and a reminder on Nov 17. Arrived on the 18th and the course was closed due to a tournament starting at 10:30. Doug in the pro shop said that was a Golf Now problem and deal with them. Terrible attitude despite the fact I showed him their Las Sendas confirm. Without saying it he basically told us to FO.

Got a refund from Golf Now but I must say Las Sendas has substandard customer service.

I'm surprised that you chose to leave a negative review considering we (Ownership) explained sincerely that the error was Golf Now and not ours. We also provided you with a 30% discount on a future reservation and Golf Now acknowledging their error refunded you fully for their error. You sent an email explaining your situation, we replied stating we would investigate your concern and then the same day we replied a 2nd time with the facts of how the error occured. I guess our customer service lacked your expectation. Have a great day!

Late afternoon round

Cartpath only due to overseeding so we knew we couldn't finish all 18. Lots of elevation and some frustrating hole layouts. One par 3 is straight up an elevator shaft. Not for casual golfers.

Good challenge and fair

Cart path only...grass was close to allowing carts, maybe by 11-16?. Some sand traps needed attention. Sand was inconsistent and at $140 should be better. Greens rolled good, fairway bunkers in better condition. Lots of water, wildlife and birds. Quiet and peaceful despite being near homes. Plenty of elevation to challenge distance management and plenty of room around the greens to accoomodate any poor shots. Play the correct tees and enjoy the challenge and day! Got the opportunity to play another round via a HOT DEAL at $70 which was fantastic value.

First time playing impressions

Hi - my experience with booking, getting rental clubs, cart, driving range, etc was all excellent. First class. Everyone I talked with, including other golfers, were friendly. The Ping G430's (stiff) are great clubs.

As for the course, I played the blue tees. I found the par 3's very short, with none over 135 yards. I was surprised as to how easy they were. I enjoyed the undulations in the fairways and the large and deep bunkers. The par 4 and 5's were also short. The course is all about where to miss, if you need to. I did get onto the wrong side of some greens which is where the challenge is.

I don't mind the 90 degree rule as it gives you a reason to walk a little, and it saves the grass.

The greens were small, but fairly flat I thought. I was surprised at how slow the greens were. I played towards evening, so perhaps the grass had already grown since the morning cut.

I am new to Arizona golf. The sun was in my eyes a lot, with sun being low in sky all day. I play in Winnipeg, and Manitoba where I am from.

I was expecting to pay high prices, and that happened. $ 75 for rental clubs ?? These clubs are rented 15 times, and the set is paid for (at retail prices !).

I will probably come back, providing the course is not already converted to private. I went here, knowing it may be my only opportunity to play here.

Excellent!

This is a very nice facility with a challenging course. Choose your ttes smartly since the wind will make the course play much longer. Recent overseed made the course play long. Due to no fairway roll. Greens were very hard and very fast but putted true. The range, practice putting green and chipping areas were ok. Overall a must play if the orice is right.
