The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

A nice Pete Dye course

I played early in the morning so the pace of play was great. I really enjoy the desert setting courses, challenging, but beautiful. The course had been recently over seeded so some greens were cut longer than others which added to the challenge. For me the back nine was more difficult than the front nine. I’d play the course again.

Great course

I haven't had the opportunity to play Red Mountain for over 20 years. Much has changed on the course over the years...a lot more houses and less desert views. However, the course hasn't really changed and it's still a treat to play! A great Pete Dye build!

So much potential hindered by a lack of capital commitment

This 35+ year old Pete Dye layout has a lot of potential, but would appear not to have had much investment over that time. The clubhouse, grill and off-course amenities are straight out of the late 80s to early 90s. The course itself is a decent layout, subject (of course) to the typical Pete Dye shenanigans. Most greens are domed. Many have the typical railroad-tie backings to green-side bunkers or simply siding greens, and an inordinate number of fairways have absurd mounding and contour leading to great, center-stripe drives landing in spots that will have balls hanging above, or lying below your feet. Views are spectacular of Red Mountain and the Tonto National Forest beyond the attractive housing development around the course. Staff are courteous, if not particularly friendly. The value is currently pretty good—the course does not see the amount of play—or command the greens fees—of its neighbors Las Sendas, Longbow, or Alta Mesa. It’s definitely worth a round, or more if you enjoy a Dye layout.

Lots of diversity

Great track to get a mix of skill levels on. Quite a few fun holes with a variety of layouts to mix it up. I got out mid morning and didn’t have to wait on a single hole. Finished reseeding but still cart path only as of the day we played. Starter was super friendly and when I said it was my first time there he stopped me at the turn to ask how I was making out and get my thoughts on the course. Only bad experience was first thing at the pro shop, a woman cut me in line and then demanded they switch her tee time with another couple to get out with her friends in another slot… that’s not how tee times work, lady.

Course is pretty small and a little quirky but fun.

Course is very narrow and a little quirky but enjoyable. Pace of play was great for an afternoon tee time. Played in less than 4 hours.

One of the most challenging course in east valley !

Cart path only for the time being. The course is shaping up nicely for the fall season and better than most courses at this time of the year. Greens are getting faster too but still needs rolling. If you are a decent player, this course (from back tees) is about as hard as it gets in the east valley area - 144 slope rating ! Highly recommanded course for pro quality golf outing.

Diamond in the rough

Great layout. Just finished reseeding so art path only or pace of play rating would of been higher. Greens were a bit tricky with some faster than others (cut with different mowèrs). Tough to get a good read on them.

Would definitely play again. Good value for the money.

Red Mountain Ranch

Course is in great condition. Not very long but tight fairways and approach shots into the greens at times. Greens were a bit tall but not uncommon immediately after overseeding. Greens have a fair amount of undulation. Most greens are elevated so short game needs to be on if you're not hitting GIR.

Overseed rules and thick greens

With the new overseeding it was cart path only and the greens were so thick the putting was unfair.

Course was cart paths and greens/fairways a little slow due to over seeding. Otherwise a very nice track.
