The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Rough Pete dye design. Very challenging. Windy day which made play more difficult. Better Bring your a game.

Red Mountain

We were greeted by a very friendly staff. We had a 737 tee time.

The fairways and greens looked OK but the greens are hard as a rock and the pins were tucked to the U.S. Open Sunday pin placements. I do know they had their member guest over the weekend and were probably trying to preserve the greens. The periphery of the course is a disgrace, there’s weeds everywhere there’s weeds in the bunkers. The car brake did not work very well. In the car pass. Make sure you have an appoint with the chiropractor afterwards because the cart pass definitely need work. Also, there was no food service available till 11 AM not even coffee if you want to waste $109 go ahead.

We will be back!!

This was our first time at Red Mountain but won’t be our last. Although play was abit slow it won’t keep us from returning. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in excellent shape. The natural desert landscape was beautiful as well.

The staff were friendly and accommodating.

For some reasons the bathrooms were closed at the pro shop but we were shown where we could go instead and it was quick short walk to the club house.

Good course, too expensive

Overall, the course was in good shape. The only complaint was regarding the greens. They were very hard so no approach shot would stick. The greens had not been mowed so putting was difficult because of slowness. I would play the course again as I loved the layout but probably at a different time of year. It was not worth the cost.

But overall we enjoyed the day on the course.

Tough but fair course

Lots of deep bunkers protecting the greens. Undulating fairways, rough and greens. After you've gotten past the uneven lies in the fairway (and rough), you have a very challenging shot to the green protected by deep pot bunkers and mounds all around. A classic Pete Dye design that challenges every shot.

Course is in great shape

Fairway to green the course is in GREAT shape. Greens are a little slow for my taste but plenty of roll and not all pitted up and patchy. This course is a test so if you’re looking for a flat easy “feel good” round this one will challenge you a bit. Apparently they also doing some work on the clubhouse so limited food and drink right now. Just an fyi.

Decent value for your money

Course feels a little rough at times … probably because we went in the desert to often. The thing that stands out are the greens … lots & lots of undulations … some potentially wild pin placements. They kept it fair by slowing the greens down enough to make it enjoyable. Feel like the second time through scores could improve significantly. Overall showed how fragile our games are. Food & beverage nothing special … go for the golf.
