Spoilt by Slow Play

The course condition was great, the weather was perfect but the round was spoilt by having to follow a slow and highly inebriated group ahead of us. The on-course marshals seemed unable or unwilling to address the problem. My unverified suspicion is they they may have been staying at the resort and thus were given more leeway. Shame - spoilt an otherwise excellent day's golf.

Painful

Let me preface, there is no amount of beauty that will offset having to wait 15-20 min per tee box.

I called the pro shop at the 4th hole to ask about this. They asked where I was on the course and what my tee off time was. Then informed me, somewhat snidely, that this is normal pace of play for a Saturday. I was told 5.5-6 hrs is NORMAL, if I want to, I can come back to clubhouse and get a refund. I drove 40 mins to play this course on a beautiful day.

Not sure about everyone else, but waiting all that time between holes is agonizing.

I was setup with 3 guys I did not know. We all quit, but couldn't even get back to the pro shop quickly, due to the cart paths being so narrow, all the fairways roped off and multiple backups at the tees.

When we arrived back to the pro shop, I was asked if I wanted a credit instead. The guy Blake, barely looked at us. We could tell he was annoyed, by me being annoyed.

I told him no, I'd like a refund. He said, fine. I'll pro rate the holes. I said fine, whatever.

I informed him if 5.5-6 hrs is considered their normal, it should be on their website as such. I fully understand he probably has no control over the website, but to tersley inform me that 5.5-6 hrs is normal pace of play, is ridiculous. I know I sound like a B here, but I had 3 guys with me, that I did not know, fully in agreement.

I would not come back here, im sure they're happy about that as well.

It is a beautiful course, many amenities and they have Gelato. Those are the pros...

Helps to know the course

This was only my second time playing this course and due to several blind tee shots and other unknown approaches you need someone in the group who knows the layout. Course was in great shape and the greens were smooth and true. Drive accurately because there are some narrow landing areas. I’ll be back!

Mickey Mouse Layout!!

If you have a Handicap Index below 12.0, you probably won't like this course. The only thing missing is a windmill, a loop-de-loop, and a clown's mouth. The tips are a mere 6200 yds, and that includes 4 absolutely horrible Par-5s all measuring 550-600 yds, so this shows you what the remaining 14 holes amounts to. 90-degree doglegs w/ blind shots where you can't see the greens or landing areas, elevation changes that are NOT normal for the area, and just too much short target golf for a semi-decent golfer. The clubhouse & facility are outstanding, and the resort looks very high class, but not so much for the golf course. My wife & I will not be returning anytime soon, especially with the quantity of courses in the Phoenix area.

Great corse and awesome plays

The course was an excellent shape. The staff was super friendly. I love the layout of the holes. Everything through 18 was awesome. Some of it was a little challenging. Some of it was open fairways good experience for any golfer had a great time. The only thing that I could say is that the cart ladies that sells snack, snacks and beverages I think is a little overpriced for sure for what you get, but that’s has nothing to do with the golf course itself. That was a great five stars but the snacks and foods and beverages were really high priced on the course.

Should have been a great day.

But they sold the slot cheap on GN and had a tournament right behind us. Would have been great IF we hadn’t had people literally driving into us. We were told to speed up because we were behind by 10 minutes. Actually we were two positions out of play and had a great pace going. The move we were forced to skip holes 7& 8 we were right on top of the players ahead of us. So squished between anxious entitled tournament players and slow golfers who paid just like us.

Personally I don’t ever want to play here again. And say be advised if the price seems too good to be true, call the course and make sure you aren’t behind or ahead of a tournament.

No plaque for a hole-in-one

I made a hole in one at hole 12, par 3, 120yd blue, but was told by the ranger watching the hole and the clubhouse attendants that they don’t have any plaque or official identification to celebrate. So, I just got a group photo with the players who went with me and got their signature on the ball.

It would be nice if the course actually had something to celebrate such event together.

Rough

No driving range at all. Starters act like you’re playing sawgrass but no time enforcement had a 4:45 round with early tee time. Course in rough shape. Greens have dirt and tall grass for the fringe. Fairly challenging though with some elevation changes.
