San Tan Highlands

Check in very smooth. Staff very friendly. Very interesting back nine around the mountains. Front nine open and long. In the cart are TWO signs mentioning that expected time for the round is 4:20 and that if you are slow the WILL move you. Starter also mentions about slow play. We start on the par 5 and play fairly quickly. We get to #2 and see the group two in front of us just driving off. We already have 4 groups on the second hole. Before the group 2 in front hits their shots on to the green the group behind us pulls up, now 5 groups and we are only on hole 2. 2:40 for the front nine and no ranger. On 10 again group 2 in front of us is finishing teeing of as we pull up. We wait 30 minutes before we can start the back. Ranger comes by twice but nothing changes. Too bad because the back seemed like an interesting layout. 5:20 for the round, over an hour longer than the TWO signs on the cart. Ridiculous!!!

Hadn't played here in a few years so thought I'd give it a chance. There was no warning that the range and putting green was closed. Also they were running 30 mins behind. Pretty excessive for no frost warning. Course had no water on it and charging 5-7 for a bottle is pretty crazy. Just felt overall like poor communication between the clubhouse and starter etc. Course was 100% not ready to play. Greens were longer that the fairways. If it's not ready to go stay closed. Id rather wait and pay the money when it's worth. Now I definitely won't go back.

Golfed this course this Saturday and our Tee Time was around 11:10 and we didn’t get done with 18 holes until 5:30 which to me is just way too long. I can understand that a lot of these courses can get really busy during peak but I’ve never had one take that long. It is cart path only which was not informed that until started also no range because they had recently reseed. The course is getting is good shape and there really is some cool holes and good elevation. Right now the greens are the slowest I’ve ever played which is weird. If they could fix the pace of play I would play again.

Before booking make sure you ask if either the front or back are closed. The front nine was closed and we didn’t know that until we showed up. Pace of play was expectedly slow because of this.

Greens were nice just several bare areas around the greens and fairways

Their are slowly upgrading the course but they are working on it. The layout is awesome. They’re fixing the tee boxes finally. Some were so unlevel you couldn’t get a stance ~ kind of like hole #12 still is.

I love this course. The fairways were a little rough in spots but it is the middle of summer. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend playing this course.

Just get rid of the golf cart restriction program and it’s one of my favorite courses

The front 9 is more fun and challenging with several elevated tees and strong dog legs. The fairways have a lot of grass issues but the greens were fantastic. Overall, it was a good value and had an enjoyable round.
