The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.

The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Goat track

Friendly staff, horrible course layout 14 trees and a few hills. Felt like playing in a bean field. Played twilight and was told full rate is near 175. Wouldn't pay 20 dollars to play again.

The whole package

This course offers the entire package...friendly courteous staff, great driving range and practice areas. Tough layouts and fast greens. Only misstep is the condition of the sand traps

Good and bad

Interesting playing here on pine course. Got a great deal on golfnow for first round with snow at home. Course had green fairways and dormant Bermuda rough as expected. Our foursome had a bad day on the greens because of speed (faster than practice green), slopes on greens ( better to be off the green below pin than above pin) and pin placements on knobs. One hole, I think 15, is borderline unfair with multiple water hazards in play on difficult shots. Dark blue pin flags often are difficult to see.

Good pace of play at just over 4 hours starting at 12:30. Just not my cup of tea for golf in the desert

McCormick Ranch golf Club

Groups out every 8 minutes. Crammed us in and the first nine was over 3 hours, absolutely painful. Back nine was respectable 2.15. I think a lot of people just left

Not worth the money

I know golf this time of year in February comes with the premium in Arizona. However, this course is definitely not worth $175 around. Fairways or marginal and greens were fair at best.

Painfully slow round. Did not finish, and no ranger or assistant appeared to speed pace of play.

Pines Course Challenge

Course layout is deceiving. Fairways are very wide and player friendly. The greens are a real challenge depending on pin placements and are really quick if you are putting downhill. Course conditions are good, tees fairways and greens. Did not get a bad lie all day. Pace of play was great at 4hours 5 minutes teeing off at 10:00 am.

Lovely!

From check-in to drop-off the staff was top notch. I had never played at McCormick and the staff was friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape. Greens were tough! Pace was pretty good ; folks behind us thought we should have been quicker - based on their balls running up on us - but we had someone ahead of us, too. 🤷🏼 Pro shop had a great selection, driving range was nice, chipping practice area and practice greens were great. The views were beautiful and we had a lovely time. We’ll be back!

Unbelievably Slow Golf

The course was over booked and there was no attempt to keep up pace of play. The Pine Course was in terrible shape, and we switched to the Palm to try and finish 18 after a 3:20 front 9. I would not recommend playing either McCormicks.

Our new "go-to" in Scottsdale

The Pines course is fun and challenging. Unlike the Palms course, these greens will hold a shot if you hit them. The 15th hole, we were told, is the toughest hole in Scottsdale according to Phil M. The staff is terrific, amenities are great (have the southwest salad!) and nice to have the driving range and practice greens. Highly recommend.
